Hello! I'm a new memberof Digital Point forums and I'm trying to be as helpful as possible. My new blog is in need of content ... I've written lots but I want to try the question/answer technique to build the content. My blog is on the topic of writing articles and submitting them to promote your website. If you would like to contribute a question let me know. If I can answer it I'll post it on my blog and give you credit and a live link. Thanks for your help. Bonnie
how about: - what are the best places to submit articles? 'the best' in the sense of 'i submit it once there and it proliferates through to other article sites so as to make best use of my time' - what is the best way to add your sig? - are there formatting issues we need to be aware of? - what is the story with URL? some sites accept only "http:..." others want the tag and others accept HTML coding ...ou confirm or deny or comment on this? serge
Here's one that might help.. A Useful Article Submission Tool This online tool will automatically reformat your text for you: http://www.web-source.net/format_text.htm Many sites have guidelines concerning the layout of your article. One of the common guidelines is that your article must not exceed 60-65 characters across. By using the format text tool you can be certain your article will be properly formatted, so that it does not get rejected for something that is so simple to fix. Here's to your success, Mark http://www.profitattractor.com
You could always discuss the importance of paying professional writers to add content to your site. Ie- What is the benefit of paying someone to write for you?
Serge, Thanks for the great questions. I'll address them in order and also post them at my blog. - what are the best places to submit articles? 'the best' in the sense of 'i submit it once there and it proliferates through to other article sites so as to make best use of my time' The very best places to submit articles include both article newgroups and article directories such as EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com. In order to determine your "best places" use your topic as a guide and submit to places that encourage publishers to visit to choose articles. - what is the best way to add your sig? Your signature/by-line/resource box should be added at the very end of your article after your copyright statement. - are there formatting issues we need to be aware of? A handful of sites that I'm aware of prefer to receive articles formatted a specific way (such as line length) but the overwhelming majority accept plain text with html coding in your signature. - what is the story with URL? some sites accept only "http:..." others want the tag and others accept HTML coding ...know if you need any clarification. Bonnie
Thanks Mark for the suggestion. I posted it with your link on the blog - it will go live over the next couple of days. Bonnie
Thanks tltfaas for the useful information on article submission. I've just started getting interested in using this method as a means of getting traffic. In fact, I just submitted two articles to goarticles.com and ezinearticles.com to test out the results. Have you noticed that articles are the best way to get traffic? and what is the typical amount of traffic that a submitted article will bring...or does it vary?
Chopster, Thanks for the question. There is no typical amount of traffic that an article will bring in unfortunately. It varies greatly based on: Topic Audience Quality of the Article My small busines related articles typically get submitted directly to 250-300 newsgroups, article directories, blogs & individual sites. Within a month I will be able to count over a thousand incoming links coming from that one article. If you have a very good article on a popular topic you can get a ton of traffic! Bonnie
I want to know if submitting your article to directories can cause harm by effectively making that article free game for others to steal and use on their site, therefore potentially diluting your own site, and affecting your ranking?
Wow, that's very encouraging. Thanks for the numbers. I bet that a lot of the popularity of a submitted article comes from the value of the topic and keywords that are used (the value through Adsense or YPN). The idea is that you want webmasters to take your article and post it on their sites. Just so long as the webmaster leaves the live link back to your website included with the article. That way, you get lots of webmasters posting links back to your site and it helps your site climb the ranks in the SERPS.
I ghost write articles alot. 400 to 750 words per article. I think it is the really a great way to learn. I have to study topics (especially the hot trends) and this gives me a reason to surf the web. Who would of thought you could take your Internet connection off your taxes And tell people..hey I am working..when they catch you surfing around to different sites..and you really can mean it! What I wonder is this.... Is there a script or something that you can track your articles with that is not considered invasive? ~~Corena
Longroad, If you submit your articles to directories then you are not having your articles stolen. You give permission for reprint to anyone that finds the article in the directories. This isn't considered stealing. You cannot dilute your site and affect your ranking by submitting articles. Your ranking is determined by your relevant content, incoming links, etc. Articles with live links to your site will increase your ranking not dilute it. Bonnie
i found article submitting to not be rewarding at all. i found my articles on websites with my context taken out.
Kiren, Article submission is not for everyone. I'm not sure what you meant about your article being used without your context. If someone is using your article improperly e-mail or call them and request your article be removed. Bonnie
...or a better option would be to email them and request that they fix the article to show what you originally wanted to be displayed. If you are going to take the time to email them, might as well request they fix it rather than delete it.
Chopster has a good point. If you're going to contact publishers first ask them to fix your article and if they refuse then you can ask them to remove it. Use your contact with the publisher to create a relationship and ask them to contact you when they need articles in your topic area. Bonnie
