The last time I bought one of these, I got pennalized and PR went to 0. How do I make sure this doesn't happen again. And what are the benefits of getting submitted to directories. Just lots of backlinks with strong pagerank?

I'm not sure where you bought your package from but you should not be penalized. Did you do any other thing other than submitting to article directories? There could be many cause for the PR drop and article marketing should not be one of it as article marketing is one of the best method to get backlinks and traffics. I use it for my own sites and the numerous positive feedbacks on this thread should justify the effectiveness of article marketing.

From my own experience, PR drops because I
1)stop adding content to the site
2)stop building links to it
3)sell links

I have sites that got PR 3 and 5 from link building campaign that includes article submission, directory submission and blog postings. Some jump from 0 to 3 when the PR updates and then I did the 3 things mentioned above and the PR went to 0 on the next update. Sites that were not left idling and continue to get link love and content has no change in PR and some even increase. So, basically, if you want to make sure that your PR don't drop is to not do the 3 things mentioned above.

The 2 most significant benefits of article marketing are backlinks and traffics. SOme directories have very high traffic and PR.

Articles get indexed real fast for the top directories and the website that the articles are linking too will get indexed real fast after that.

To have more oomph in the links coming from your articles, spin them. This way, you will have unique articles linking back to you and will make your links more juicy. With our service, we provide spinning and even multiple article bios to make your anchor texts varied.
