Ok id like to get some opinions on this.
    You have a few articles.

Do you post it to as many submission sites as you can?

Or Do you post it to the only a few like the top 5 article sites?

Or... do you put it on your site and then put it on maybe the top 2 article sites.

Trying to get an idea of duplicate content penalties. I see all these submit to 100 article directories but I would think thats bad right?

Anyways thanks for any input. As of now I was leaning to put the Article on my site and an original resource and on only a few of the popular article sites.

That an excellent question. I'm not sure what Google's latest mindset is on it but my first question is "Are you looking for traffic or an increase in search engine rankings?". In theory, a useful article can get posted all over the place and should therefore help traffic and rankings. Does any duplicate content filters hurt your chances? I'm not sure.

Yeah im looking for better rankings. I want to blast articles off to hundreds of sites, but I just can't see how they wouldn't call it duplicate content. Dunno, anyone else have any thoughts?

As I've noticed, even you submitted one articles to over thousand of article directories, the Big G only count you article as "ONE" and the others will be labeling as "spam articles".

If you want to have gain more links and organic clicks to your site through articles, you need to rewrite the articles you and submit them to other article directories one by one.

    Just my 2 cents thought...:)

In my experience when I post duplicate articles to multiple article sites, I only get links back to one of the copies. Nowadays I only post to one article site. Some of the articles get republished or linked about 50 times which gives me a few links.

Good strategy, always try to create a good content article and wait for those that interested to republish it and link back to you.

Thus, by this way you will not only gain a bunch of links, but also some extra organic clicks as well :)

Re-writing one article for 99 other directories is a bit time consuming and does not make much sense . If you are looking for traffic then I suggest that you stick to those directories that have high traffic rankings .

I see a couple of your responses feel addditional postings will be viewed as duplicates. visit dupecop.com take your article and re-write it 3 times to make each copy 40% different - you can put 4 articles into the free version, look for 'spun articles' then post to high PR article sites, there's plenty around and you'll get a much bigger hit than simply duplicating...also article approval is quick so you can see quick movement in SERPs

I used to use goarticles.com but have now switched to Article Dashboard. My articles there seem to get published/ linked more widely.

Submit to as many article directories as you can. You should rewrite parts of your article however so that Google will see it as unique content. However I wouldn't be as worried as everyone else says about duplicate content. Your articles may be the same on different sites, but each site has different templates and other content, so your article on different sites will have different source html.

I just going to publish on my own website, will not distribute my own content over the web.

This is a perfectly valid thing to do. For me, the articles I write are often not on the same topic as my sites. I post these on article sites so I can build a few links.

I use a service called submit your article this is an article distribution service
that gives me the opportunity to create several versions of the same article.
After I have created multiple versions of the article I submit the article
through their service. I have been using this service since October 07 and
I'm very happy with the results.

Because there are different versions of the article google does not
devalue the article for duplicate content, this is a great service you should
    consider giving it a try.
