Article Submission Questions

I read somewhere that you should only submit one article to one article directory, otherwise Google will really regard it as duplicate content and not list your article.

I have also heard you should post it at your site first and then post it to several article directories. I guess in this case, Google knows where it originated, and then it's okay to post to many different other sites - or is this not true?

I have been sending articles to Ezinearticles.com and to the Articlemarketer service - AM distributes to a large number of sites and ezine publishers. Is this a bad idea (too much exposure per article)?

If we should only post to one article directory, should we install the article at our site first ? If this is the case, I guess we need to write a lot more articles ?

What is the truth about this ?

    Thanks.

I have been submitting articles to over 400+ directories and my site(s) keeps increasing in SERP. Sometimes we just need to try it out :)

I have heard stories on both sides of the ball. There have also been arguments about this on Wealthy Affiliate.

I personally don't know if it hurts you to list in on several Article sites, Because I simply haven't tried it, in the fear of duplicate content.

My content site is building just by listing the content in one article site, I mainly use GoArticles and eZine for my articles, beyond that I really don't travel too much.

    Hi KC,

What service are you using to submit to 400 directories ? I'm guessing Directory Vault ?

Regarding submitting articles, it is a strange subject. For example, if you only submit one particular article to ezinearticles.com, and Google posts that article in their SE, what happens after other publishers post your content on their sites ? That means many places will contain your article - will Google then delete your listing ?

I have also heard that you should post your article at your site first so they know who the original source is - not sure what effect that has overall, but maybe it is your site page that they will list in the long run, but I'm not sure.

I have a free article rewriting service that can generate 100's of readable, unique copies off a single article, so I get the best of both worlds :D

I think there are three sides to the issue.

Submitting 1 article to several directories does not necessarily mean you are spamming as the directories will not publish your article on the same day.

Though your site may originate an article, I have heard that Google will determine which published first according to its index. I understand they look at the reputation of the site too.

You do not need to post the article first at your site to minimize the incidence of duplicate content. Just send to the directories. You can write one version for the directory and another for the original site.

That is the key. Do not use the same exact article on your site. You can rewrite it and still use it.

If you think about it the purpose of submitting to directories is to get the backlinks not necessarily having the article rank in Google. Although that is a bonus when it happens.

If you do not put the exact article on your site then the only people who have to worry about the penalty for duplicate content (if that even exists) is the directories themselves.

Just ask yourself if the issue of duplicate content penalty exists how do the srticle directories make it? People do submit the same article to many directories. So they depend on duplicate content.

Google still lists the articles even they are the same:
