don't enter into the confusion of which one is best or not article submission or forum posting.... everything which you done in a right manner definately gives you positive results. And submitting of article in 50 sites is not a duplicate issue because article is meant for this purpose to publish more and more sites. If this duplicate issues is arises foremost the all article sites should get banned because they are accepting the duplicate articles. Google knows everything just publish your article in a same days dont submit same article in 3-4 days. And forum posting is very good technique all webmasters are getting benefits from this.

So whatever you do whether it is article or forum just do in a right manner guided by Google.

I think both have different utilization. DO not use forums to get links instead use them as good platform of communication .If you find relevant forums as per your business niche then you will get good exposure by posting in it because most of the people would like to know about your services in relevant forums
