Article Submission as a web site marketing tool. Good or Bad ?

    Hi,

I came across the issues of article submission using article submission automatic software
    (To 500 article directories).

As I understand, there should be two benefits:

    1. Increasing inbound links to my site (for SEO).
    2. Attracting new visitors to my site.

As I understand now, I'm not sure massive article submission is good from Google point of view.

Does anyone has any experience in this issue ?

    Tx in advance.

Article marketing will certainly bring you some visitors. Make sure you write quality articles. Also, in your resource box, give the reader a good reason to click through to your site.

Some say that ezinearticles and goarticles are the two biggies and submitting to them is enough. Other sites will pick up your articles from there and increase your backlinks as well.

Others like to submit to as many directories as possible.

Having just started article marketing myself, I can't give a good answer, but I would think that just submitting to the big directories is enough...just follow up with as many articles as you can write. And one last note, don't submit the exact same articles that you have up on your website as you may get punished for duplicate content.

    I appreciate your input.

Let's say I submitted my article to the 10 biggest article directory. What interests me the most is how long it takes Google to notice that 10 sites are pointing my site.
My first article was submitted 30 days ago however in Alexa i can't see any mention of "inbound links" to my site...

Article Submission is important what ever i have come to know submitting one article to over 500 article directories is of no use.

Their must be variation in every 100 article submission that is done.

I have read that google never considers a site which uses one article for the submission variation is required.

I do article marketing myself and I've wrote a e-book about this (see my signature)... So my answers are:

    1. With bulk article submission, you will not do any harm to your google rating (today, but I cannot tell you about future).

    2. It is better idea to change your title and description and article text a little when doing bulk submission (service you are using must suggest this as an option).

    3. SEO effect is good idea, but you must write a good article, because it's better (much better), if article will be reprinted by some site other that article site.

I use article marketing as my prime form of advertising.

I personally submit, by hand, to as many directories as possible. Not necessarily 500 because I can only do so much, but a good amount. Now what I do is I have a free article rewriting service (that takes a bit of manual work) that generates hundreds of unique, readable copies of the same article. So I get the best of both worlds really.

My thoughts on this are that if you don't also publish the articles on your own site or blog, then I can't see where submitting to 500 or even 1,000 other places will hurt you directly.

It may eventually cause some 'duplicate content' grief for some of those sites you submitted to, but for your site directly I can't see it causing any harm. The worst that could happen would be Google or some other search engine ignores links and content on pages of the article directories, but I doubt there will be any direct penalty to the sites (like yours) being linked to from articles there.

If you do also publish your articles on your own site or blog, make sure it gets cached from your site by Google before submitting it to article directories. I wasn't doing this with a political site I write on where some of my rambles get syndicated across a media network, and I suddenly noticed my pages were dropping to the syndicated versions of my writings. I changed it so that nothing gets picked up for syndication now until it's been on my site for at least 48 hours and that hasn't happened since.

You can do well by just submitting to 1-3 larger sizes like eZinearticles and then using a service like iSnare, which is about $2 per article. They'll submit to many places.

There's no need to waste money on ebook and other crap. And there's definitely no need to spend eons doing submission. The process is simple.

    1. Write or buy the article.
    2. Submit the article with your signature info and 2-3 links.
    3. Repeat as often as you like.

Duplicate content issues affect THEM not you. Just don't use the article on your own stuff. Don't do it. Even if you wait until it caches, you still lose and your diluting your content and degrading your site's value.

Here's the thing. The links from the article directories won't help you too much (and less and less with Google). What you need are links from other sites that are on topic with your target site. So, you want your article to get to places where other webmasters might actually come and get them.

The traffic you get can range from non-existant to minimal. It really depends. For years, this was a great concept. Today it's nice, but there's tons of noise out there. You've got to submit more than one item. Don't just submit one and sit around and wait.

BTW, I still get new pickups from stuff I did years ago. So, get your content out there and working for you.

Article submission is useful but it should be done manually.
