I agree. Article Submissions are more about link building and not about immediate traffic from the articles itself.

you had mentioned posting the article on your site - do most of you do this, or do you submit the article to the article directories only (and not post it on your site)? If I was going to put it on my site (in addition to article directory submission), I surely would put it on my site first to get spidered, I wouldn't want my site to be the "duplicate content" one, when I wrote the original article.

Not too short, at least 500 words. And yes, make it easy to read by using short paragraghs, rather than huge blocks of text.

300-500 words is the right length, anywhere in there.

 

With regards to article traffic, the real strength of articles isn't in volume traffic, but rather quality traffic. If written well, a great article may still only bring you a few hundred visitors, but they will be highly targeted visitors ready to convert.

If your goal is to just inflate your traffic numbers, then articles are really only going to benefit you as backlinks for the SE's to find.

But if you're looking to convert traffic on your site into leads or sales, then articles can be a very powerful tool.

 

You need to rewrite it if you want your article in your website, it is useless if you post the same article in article directories and in your own website even if you post your article in your own website first..

 

I agree that articles should be unique but I am sure that most webmasters dont have sufficient time for this.

In fact, for my articles directory we make it a policy to reject all of the auto posters, short articles, promotional articles and i know for a fact that the ones that do get approved gets read. If the links in the resource box is related then I am sure it brings the authors traffic.

article submission cannot do any good for you if you don't have any quality articles. Back links didn't worth much if you don't have any quality article.

 

You will get some traffic but nothing out of this world from article submissions.

I would say you can get some traffic from articles. After all, people reading articles tend to click on contextual ads like AdSense, so if your link is related to the article, they may click on that also.

I usually write about 15-20 articles per week.

I research my keywords and use these in my bio, these are links pointing back to my sites.

I do not write articles to get traffic from the articles. I build up my rankings with the keywords I use in my bio, this is where I get my traffic. This method has worked very well. I submit to 500 directories with each article.

I don't really worry about Page Rank I am just trying to increase my keyword rankings amoung the search engines, while doing this my page rank does go up. Yahoo and MSN respond nicely to this method and google takes a little longer but it happens.

Now articles is not the only method I use, I don't believe one method of link building is enough, just like anything else you need to diversify.

The software I use to distribute my articles is articlemarketer, I use to use isnare but I switched to articlemarketer because isnare does not continually submit my articles to new article directories as they sign up.

You don't really get that much traffic from quite a few article submissions I found, but there is say 1 in every 10 - 20 articles I write where I get one listed on a quite good site and gives me anywhere from 5 - 60 unique visitors per month for a good few months.

I think it just takes time for the sites to pick up your articles.

 

I don't think that is a good idea. Submitting one article to 500 article directories is waste of time. DO you have a SEO extension in your firefox? Enter your domain name in google, look into your article in (let's say) ezinearticles or articlealley, then click the supplemental. you'll find your own article (in another article directories if you don't rewrite them) are supplementals.
