Article submission and duplicate content

Is it a good idea to write articles and submit them for others' usage(with a link back), but not use the article on your own website? This is to avoid duplicate content penalty.

Is it stupid to do so? Am I just providing others with free unique content? Or is this a good thing that many of you are actually doing?

Certainly there are some high profile SEO companies using this practice, so I would say it probably works to some degree.

If you are a SEO Consultant, beside the made effort you get :

    1. IBL's, from related websites, ans usually very powerfull
    2. Recognition of your value, by writing those articles. People will say " Hey... That guy really knows the job"
    3. Don;t know what else. :)

Personally, I would never put an article on my site, then submit it to other sites as well.

I'd, at the very least, make 4 articles on a topic.

    1- for my site
1- for my favorite article site
1- for another good article site
1- for general distrbution (like goarticles or article city or something).

I'd not even risk the chance of a dupe content penalty, who knows how things will change in the future with it. Protect yourself now

Is it possible to be penalized because of duplicate content? Not sure if this makes much sense...if that is true, ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and the like would all be penalized by now, since they all have many dupe content - then what would be the advantage of submitting articles to penalized sites?

I've not seen any evidence that you'd get penalized for that. Best to submit as many articles as you can, to as many article directories as you can. There are loads to choose from and if you go for directories with high page rank you can prioritise your submissions in favour of the most highly ranked sites.

See the link below for a list that will help with this.

    Good luck!

    regards

I have seen no evidence of penalization. As to work, it is very little work considering the amount of targeted traffic, links and promotion one can receive.

PS. Submit your articles to ContentTycoon.com :D
