I know the major article sites do not allow anchor text within the article, only the resource box. Does this make any difference? and are there major article site that allow anchor text within the article? If so which ones are the best for SEO.

It took me a while to get used to ezine articles policy change where they allow "Maximum of (2) "Self-Serving" active or inactive links/URLs to a website that you own, control, or have an interest in." Firther ezine articles adds "Confine your self-serving links to your RESOURCE BOX.

We do not accept articles with active or inactive links in the first 1-3 paragraphs. Please put your active links in the resource box below the article body. The article BODY is your "GIVE" and the RESOURCE BOX is your "TAKE."

I put two "self serving links in the authors box and I move on. I understand that it is generally better, ie preferable for me, my site to put anchor text in context, ie within a sentence, paragraph that makes grammatical sense........ Ezine has tightened their policies since I became a member in Nov. 2007 and I intend to continue writing articles there as it has a pr6, and high Alexa, I know that doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot but I do write for other article sites and they have similar but certainly not identical policies. There was a list theother day on dp about article sites that you may want to check out for the other sites that also has their pr listed. Seems to me getting the link into the body of the article is preferable but if not I will gladly take the resource box.

I think in terms of seo, it shouldn't matter if the link is in your resource box or within the content. As for direct traffic, I think it would generate much more direct traffic by placing your links within the actual article. There are not many article directories that allow this though.

I don't know of any article directory of note that allows self links within the article body. Ezine Articles have even stopped affiliate links in the resource box.

I think the in-content links are best when possible, for more reasons than one.

Can you put links to different (but related) websites in your resource box?

most article sites dont allow incontent links so you only can have resource box links. however, you can use anchor text on resource box as well. write a nice line with your keyword and link using anchor text, thats the best you can do
