Article PR higher than site PR?!?!?!

Unbelieveable. I recently wrote an article on up and coming games for the pc as I've heard its a great link building strategy, and now the ezine page:

    http://ezinearticles.com/?Upcoming-PC-Games-of-2009-and-End-of-2008&id=1350599

has PR3 ?!?! compared to my actual site (first one in sig) which is only PR2?!?!

So in approxmately 1 month the ezine page has gone from no PR to PR3 and my actual site (which i have worked hard on getting backlinks etc) has taken around 8 months getting from no PR to PR2.

Just to add insult to injury that is the first article I have ever written and tbh i didnt even put much effort into it!

Would be greatful if someone could explain this to me lol

I've had a similar problem. One of my Ezine Articles was within the first 4 pages of Google's results for a certain keyword, and my main site (which was nowhere near the top 10, let alone 4) had a PR of 3. Since Google did the updates the other day, that same Ezine Article disappeared from the top 4 pages, my main site finally made it within the first 4 pages, but its (main site) PR went down to 2!

There are probably more links to your Ezine article than your website, thus the result. Otherwise, I don't know what is exactly causing it. :) I think the threads on link building will be of better help, though.

Be happy it has such good PR. Some of it will filter back to your site.

    Keep writing!

You published it to a higher PR site than your own, and it likely has either more incoming links or higher PR incoming links because of that - doesn't sound strange at all.

PR is complete whonk these days. One of my sites receives 10,000 visitors from Google each day, and is much more established as far as links. It is PR5. Another of my sites gets 500 visitors per day from Googe, with less established links. It is PR6. So, don't worry about PR. There was a time when it had importance, but that time has past. These days I judge more by Alexa the value of a site...how much traffic it gets. Alexa is far from perfect because it has a large webmaster skew, but I think it is about the best thing going because it has more users than any of the other options.

ezinearticles.com is an authority domain, so its easy for the internal pages of same domain to get PR (internal linking matters alot).

Here is similar example: Check the adult DB thread in my sig. It has PR2. I suppose that PR is just because of internal linking from DP. Now If I replace that thread link to any of my new domain, I am sure my domain will not get PR2 (just because of my Sig). I will need additional efforts and backlinks to push my domain to PR2.

EDIT: As per yahoo, you article has 1800+ internal backlinks from ezinearticles.com itself, and just 5 external backlinks.

Its been said by others, but because Ezinearticles has pretty high PR, the internal link structure on their provides their content with decent PR naturally.

Use your article writing skills to you advantage, submit another one and see if that one grows to a high PR. Will be even more PR 'juice' for your site.

Ive just submitted my first article, i'll be happy if it even gets approved. :)

It could be a case that your article is featured elsewhere - do a google search for your article title, and see where it appears. Some people instead of posting the resource box post a link back to the article's source instead.
