Well I just wrote and submitted my first couple articles to ezinearticles. Spent way to much time crafting and writing what I thought was a pretty good article with some nice hooks. The results have been less than stellar.. a handful of clicks at most. What I DID notice is that within a week or so, there were about 8 new articles in the same category that were basically rewritten versions of mine. I know because I made a few unique points and insights and lo and behold - a crop of new articles come up on exactly the same hook. So far I've got next to no traffic or back links and helped inspire a bunch of other authors. Perhaps its time to make a submission site instead of submitting!
When I first started doing article marketing it didn't appear worthwhile and I almost gave it up. It wasn't until 1-2 months later that I saw a bit of traffic increase... then every month after that it kept growing and growing. It'll happen, just takes time for people to spread your article around.
Yes article submissions are quite poor in terms of backlinks and traffic, it is a waste of time and really the bottom of the barrel in terms of site promotion. I would write a decent article and put it on your own site and market that, you will get alot more links and search traffic. I own 2 article directories, if you want to bust your backsite making content for my site while i sleep then by all means go for it lol.
It can work for a site starting out if you are desperate for links. It can depend on the subject too. Some topics will generate more traffic than others.
Well said! Perhaps things will improve in in a couple months as go85 said but I did some simple searches for unique phrases from ezinearticles and guess what? A large percentage of the submissions haven't even been syndicated once (according to a GG search anyway) So in my "throw good money after bad" strategy I've subcontracted my remaining articles to a manual submission service. I'll report back with results.
Articles are GREAT for your own site(s) content, after that sure changed the titles a little or reword them and submit em to as many sites as possible, they will give you a little traffic........ nothing much, but like anything they help. I submitted 130+ so far in about 2 years time, NO big traffic increases at all, some do help sales though, etc......... The best use I find em for is to place them as my own sites content first, then ad your adsense or ypn ads to them pages, that way they at least help you make some cash........
With article marketing the results will not happen in a few days. It can take a month or more before you see any results and then that's still not normally much. Don't expect to get a lot of traffic from Ezinearticles either, well I never have anyway. I think out of around 30 articles on there I have had a total of around 7 - 15 clicks out of the lot of them since they have been there.
