I am working on a blog for affiliate marketting right now, and I wrote some reviews of various products that I was planning on submitting to directories. My question is, should I submit the same reviews I already wrote for the blog, or will that hurt my search engine rankings?
u can get penalised badly by google however i have one bloged having duplicated content and ranked second
If you are serious about the long term success of your blog you will focus on quality unique content. A couple duplicate reviews aren't going to sink you, but if you make it a habit, you will be penalized.
It's going to be promoting affiliate links only basically, so I don't think I'm going to update often. Probably only when new products in it's niche are released.
Airraid81, my advice to you is to avoid duplicate content. Rewrite the same original review into different versions before submitting. If you do not have time, there is a way to work around it. Rewrite the original review (I presume is posted on your blog) and submit it to EzineArticles first. Once it is approved, then submit this exact copy to as many directories as you can. The reason is so that the serps see your EzineArticles' content as original and since it is on a high PR, the chances of this article ranking well is much higher than your submissions to other article directories. The mass submission is intended only to give you main blog the backlinks to boost its search engine ranking. Try it, it works very well.
A suggestion for you. post your review on your own blog first, leave it for 2-3 days so that googlebot can index your review first. Then post the reviews to other directories. Or, create a similar version on your blog, and submit the other version to directories. Put it this way, you want your review to be seen by as many people as possible, so, not submitting it to the mass do not serve your intention. But to protect yourself from google, then create a similar but different version will help.
mokmeng has good advice I'd also slightly re-write each. It doesn't take much and you can rest easy knowing each is 'unique'.
