Feature Article Marketplace

So a funny thing happened... I was working on some backend APIs that are able to automatically determine if posts are plagiarized as well as get a general idea of the post quality with a "quality score" the system can give to written content.

Then I thought, "This would be handy stuff for an article marketplace..."

A lot of work later and I've built a new area of the marketplace for articles...

Some things it does (much of which have been a source of complaints... plagiarized articles being sold, seller doesn't send articles fast enough after payment, etc.):
    • Allows selling articles in packs (or individually).
    • Articles cannot be posted for sale if they were plagiarized.
    • Articles cannot be assigned to an article pack if they were ever in a different article pack (can't sell more than once).
    • A quality score is given to each article in the pack and then an average quality score is assigned to the pack.
    • Handles payments from buyers.
    • Buyers get instant delivery of their articles after they pay.
    • Article packs are searchable and filterable (for example a buyer might only be interested in stuff with a certain number of words, in a certain price range or with a minimum quality score).
    • Buyers can leave feedback for sellers.
As of right now, there's no articles for sale in the system (since it was just now rolled out), but hopefully that will change...

    That's a great idea!
Hopefully this will get rid of a lot of spammy and stolen content.

Awesome work Shawn, just as started needed articles you roll out this new feature.

Will leave my feedback and let you know what I think, you may get an influx of workers from Freelance/Elance after this which I really hope happens.

I'm looking for an API that can check for plagarism that doesn't cost the earth. Will you be releasing it as a third party service?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the two API functions (one for plagiarism and one for content quality scoring) were already made available a couple days ago...

Is there a way for people such as me that don't have Paypal to sell in the marketplace?

I was using 2checkout to process payment for users with Paypal but with this update I am out of the market :/

Paypal is send-only in my country and as such cannot receive payment

The new article marketplace looks really nice and professional. I have just uploaded an article for selling there. (I guess it's the first one in the new marketplace.)
I am curious about how the quality checker checks your content for quality. Based on which parameters does it assess the articles you upload? Is there a grammar and spellchecker embedded?

Of course it looks at basic grammar and spelling, but it also looks at a ton of other things like repeated words and incorrect (or missing) hyphenations. It also looks at some more complex things like overuse of cliches, how passive voices are used, use of hidden verbs, etc, etc, etc...

It's not intended that anyone gets a perfect score for ANY article, although in theory it's possible, but it would be so difficult it's more or less impossible for all practical purposes.

Just added some microdata markup so that articles show the quality score rating in Google search results. For example, this pack of 5 articles shows like this in Google search results:

How do the votes get in there? Is that part of the markup?

Ah, ok. So 5 articles = the 5 ratings? So a pack with 3 articles would show up with 3 ratings?

Thanks a lot @digitalpoint , I had tested it by putting one article
    https://marketplace.digitalpoint.co...nique-through-social-commerce-sites.9/article

and The quality score feature is really awesome, in content creation section I often found that people write in thread or thread title No Indian Please or Native English only :( and doors are closed for us. Now at least we can prove that Every Indian is not bad writer.

PS: before submitting I hit preview button but it shows me only sale item title and description (no quality score of article) It will be very useful if we can check quality score of article before submitting so if author found quality is low then he/she can first edit and then submit. Hence we can get more high quality content.:)
