In my opinion I still believe that the best way to promote any online business is article marketing. Not only can you sometimes generate instant backlinks, you can also gain some good quality targeted traffic. A new site for instance can be indexed within only a few hours if the articles are submitted correctly. Another plus side to article marketing is that when listed in places like E-zine Articles the backlinks will stick and you can see traffic for quite a long time after submission. Just take a look at E-zine Articles site sometime, you will see articles on here that are years old and they still carry weight to a website. The problem is that most webmasters are far too busy to write articles and will often turn to Black hat methods to get backlinks. The downside to this, of course, is that backlinks gained will not stick and sometimes their websites will get sandboxed.
