Article Marketing - Some Thoughts From A Newbie

OK, so article marketing works and I really need to take it to that next level. I've put some thought into this and I think it may be time to start running some split testing. Have some articles heading on my main niche pointing to two different Squidoo lenses to see which one converts better. Like I said, the funny thing is when I sent people to the merchant page through a redirect it didn't seem to improve sales any. Lots to learn.

Also, have you ever had an article get no views? I tried my hand at a new niche last night, wrote a review for the product, and it was accepted this morning, but no views so far. I've never had that happen before.

Thanks again for all the advice!

And one more about the google dance. The article that I had previously mentioned that was targeted towards a pretty massive keyword search volume jumped from completely off google to spot #4 on the front page. Its kind of fun trying to beat google at their own game. But I have a feeling this article may constantly move around.

And...that article is off the front page. Google, you dirty ape! Hehe. It seems that every time it hits the front page it gets traffic and once its off, nothing. Oh well, a hubpage dedicated to that niche is now showing up on the second page for the search term. Trying to hit it from multiple angles. :)

I am doing article marketing more than 1 month. Article marketing really works. I have about 25 articles live and have closed 4 sales from there and 1 sales from PPC, total amount that i earned is about $119. I will try to do more articles although i admit the fact that sometimes I am lazy. Heehee. My lowest view for one of my article is 25 views and only 5 clickthroughs. Till now, that article is still stagnant at that hits. Anyway, sometimes i realised ezine approved my articles at this moment and take it down the next hour. Sometimes I am just wondering if they hate me!

If you aren't getting views on an article change the title , if you aren't getting clickthroughs change the resource box.

Yeah, but is it worth it to do this after the article has disappeared off the front page?

new also, have about 25 ezinzes up as of today, they kept telling me i was promoting a product and wouldn't approve them, i wrote back explaining my objective survey approach and eventually they submitted them with the same content- bit of a run around,..also had no4 spot- disappeared- came back, now its gone again, will wait to see how new traffic helps.

Didn't think you could include 2 separate links?

They would be separate articles pointing to different lenses.

article marketing does work but it needs to be centered around solid keyword research for the niche your writing for.

Without solid tags (keywords) in the article it is very likely to experience being indexed one day then removed the next, plus without good keywords the articles lifespan is alot shorter.

You never know which article is going to be a huge hit for you, so it's better to write 1 article that has been well thought out and keyword rich then 5 that are not.

Some guys can crank out articles fast, but for me it can take upwards of an hour to write a good article. That's including doing half decent keyword research, gathering info and planning it all out.

I don't necessarily agree with that. The keywords need to be there, but to be honest, the articles that hit it big for me are hit and miss. I've wrote articles that I put in a lot of work. I went over and above what I needed to present to get nothing. Yet, I've thrown together articles in a period of 5 minutes that people love.

That is exactly what I am finding. Its almost like I feel the need to just get a bunch of articles up there in the hopes that one hits it big. Some articles that I went for targeted keywords don't do jack. Any one else have the same experience?

Most ezine articles are found via google and not ezine articles so whether it's on the front page of ezine makes no difference.. This is also why your articles should have a good keyword in the title.

Yeah, I totally agree Tommo, but what do you do when your keywords aren't obvious?

You shouldn't be writing anything unless it's targeted at a keyword or keyword phrase. The process should be... Niche ==> keyword==>Article.

hope no one minds a quick advert. Check out my signature , i am giving away lots of ebooks and guides over the next 6 months or so. These are e-books i've written and sold, and videos and guides i've created for customers. The first one is 40 pages long and has 3 videos. It covers all the basics.
