If you have a content site which you have developed to promote a clickbank product. When you undertake article marketing what's the most effective strategy, to promote the content site in the resource box or direct visitors directly to the clickbank sales page?

I would say that a landing page (content site, as you are saying) is always better than just a direct link.

Review type lander works better, but still it depends on product and niche.
There is one more advantage, In buying cycle when prospect search product name + review at the time your site ranks good if you use landing page properly.

    E.g.
Article >> How to improve PC performance (Traffic from article directory)
Landing Page >> Regfix Review ( Traffic from particular article + SE traffic for product name + Review keyword.)

I had seen, If a site is getting traffic from product review keywords it will convert in between 10 to 30 hops.

Never promote directly to the affiliate site unless you absolutely have to. When would you absolutely have to? If you don't have your own web site.

But, just because you don't have a website does not mean you can't get your own domain name.;)

    Good luck,
    Zeek

Not all article sites will allow you to use and affiliate link. If you don't have a content site maybe you should get a domain name and then redirect to the offer page.

When I first started I swore by direct linking. However, once I got myself a lander....my opinion quickly changed! I'm a believer....a landing page works much better than direct linking.

Review Lander with a bonus and add a free e-book offer with email optin.

If they don't go for the main product and opt for the free e-book, upon confirming their email I use an autoresponder to immediately offer them the product once again and then over the next 7 days, converts about 35% that optin.
