I feel article marketing is better as you can target your audience a little better. Forum marketing is good too at times but also many times the links are indexed and it doesn't hold much weight at all.

A combination of both. I like the idea of sending traffic to your articles. You could also send forum traffic to your blog posts, Squidoo lenses & Hubpages.

I am one of those who say why only do one when you can do both!

Promote on forums somehow related to your niche and write and submit articles on the same niche. You can easily do both if you do it right.

Article Marketing is good for link baiting and long term traffic, while forum marketing is good for well more traffic in a short term.

I personally believe Article marketing is stuffed up as the forum marketing is still open with loads of room. But as warned before, you will get ban if you go to random niches. Best thing to do is post on forums that are related to your niche :D

I agree. Both take quite a bit of work, though. You might want to divide your time between them and then like nmmoody said, track the results.

I definitely agree with anybody who said that you should do both.

Both Article Marketing and Forum Marketing can be very beneficial to your link building campaign.

Both give you quality one-way links.

Article Marketing is awesome because you can write articles with the same keywords you are trying to optimize your site for allowing for your backlinks from your articles to be extremely relevant to your website.

Forum Marketing is great because you can build many one-way links in a short period of time, by contributing useful information to others. Dont go on forums and advertise UNLESS its an advertising forum but if for instance it is a more strict forum you really just want to be genuine about your posts. If you join forum in your niche you will get alot of targeted traffic from your posts with your signature. It really is a great way to build links and get traffic to your website.

As somebody else mentioned you can also use your articles within your signature on the forums and also drive traffic to your article aswell as building links to your article aswell.

Split testing is always the best option, although for blogs I would suggest using article marketing as I have had more success with it. I just wrote a post on this on my own blog about half an hour ago.
