Which is better to try and market through forums or Articles? I have a list of about 200 forums that I'm going to start trying to market on so I was wondering if I should continue to market articles or try forums. I've just started my blog about 3 weeks ago and haven't made any sales yet so any additional advice is much appreciated.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. But a combination of both is the best in my opinion. I agree with Moody. You can become an expert on the forums and with the article directories. If you concentrate on one niche at a time, you will be fine.
Forum Marketing might be tricky sometimes. Many forums will ban you pretty much instantly for advertising your site / service. Article Marketing is better in my opinion because your articles will rank higher in SERP (if you submitted them to the best article directories).

Its good to do both simultaneously to increase the traffic to your site. But do more article writing may be some time forum administrator may cancel your account so its good to do more focus on article posting. Unfeigned Regards Letsnurture.co.cc
I personally think that article marketing is a lot better. You get higher quality links that are authoritative. Forums the links are often removed, and poor quality visitors. You need to grab visitors from search engines, not forum hermits!
It doesn't hurt to try both. I mostly use forums for learning and getting backlinks and not for marketing, but that is a valid option. Most of my money comes from article marketing though.
I would recommend focusing on article marketing, with a much smaller emphasis on forum marketing. Carol
Its depend on the forum you post your ads,it must be related to your site. I recommend you to use both of them to get more optimum result
Although you can get links posting in forums, I've read that article marketing is much better for getting traffic. Try both methods and wait a little more time to see some results.
It honestly depends what you are shooting for. If you are building a forum, its not a bad idea to look in forums because the people on forums tend to like to post. Plus they generally know how to use forums in the first place. If you are specifically building back links for serps.... articles is probably better since the links will be authoratative.
If you have enough time and energy then you may try and make both of them. If you are posting on 1-2 forums only then the traffic is weak. To getting enough traffic you need to post on 20-25 different forums, but this is time consuming and if you forgot the rules in the crush they may banned you. But definitely they will be targeted traffic. Article marketing is fine to get traffic now(within either one or two weeks) and for long term. But you need to write and submit as much unique articles what humaly is possible continuously everyday. And this also will be targeted traffic. So, the best mix is IMHO that you make strong article marketing and besides if you have time and energy making posts on several forums. Naturally if you can afford it then you can outsource them. To me, both of them are more or less have the same importance but I would give more preferences towards forum marketing, because link building work much faster this way. Just make sure you only go for those dofollow ones.
