So i've just had my first bunch approved on ezine, been going for a few days, have 25 clicks, slow and steady. Thats not a mega amount but hopefully, even if i get 20 per month, then it's just a case of multiplying the articles to get myself some decent traffic. How is everyone else doing?

I don't think article submission is good way to bring visitor to your website. All you need to do is social book marking pay for it and get lots and lots of visits.

I'm still new, but I'm finding endorsements work even better. The key is to work off of another site's already decent traffic. Whether it's a guest post on a blog/online magazine, or a positive mention by the blog owner, I find this type of article marketing yields more traffic. A spike, but more traffic. Endorsements are clever and so is guest blogging on another site in your niche as GiGiG says. That way the traffic is already "pre-sold" and probably interested in what you have to say as it is relevant to the blog you feature on.
Change your titles, rewrite bits of the articles, rewrite anchor text, submit to different directories. Repeat. Then do the same with the next article. I do this not to get traffic from the directories but to get links, it has put my site #1 for several search terms in Google.

If you choose your keywords carefully, the article itself will rank good in Google and get the traffic, than if it's a unique, good and interesting article the visitors will click and go to your site for more. Always choose a good keyword (low competition) and build your articles around the keyword, don't just type some text there, optimize, as if it was your site.
Am doing well with article marketing try also Google adsense revenue sharing like Hubpages for additional and extra income. Latest changes has shown a decline on traffic from article writing sites.
