Article Marketing - Do you manually submit or pay for submission ?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by jasonb25, Jun 8, 2008.

I have been pushing the article marketing for the last month and have been manually submitting my articles. I haven't seen a great deal of traffic from these articles and i was wondering is it better to pay for automatic submission ?

Or should i be more patient with article marketing? They say that article marketing is a good long term traffic puller.

What are your opinions on the matter ?

    Regards

    Jason

    I hand-submit to 5-10 top article directories.

I also use articlemarketer.com for distributing to 1000's of other sites.

Most of the traffic that I get, comes from those 5-10 sites that I hand-submit to.

Compared to direct search engine traffic, traffic from articles is minuscule. You will have to write a lot of articles to get decent traffic.

IMO, it would be enough if you concentrate on the top article directories.

You should stop submitting articles to directories and post them on your blog/site instead!
Trust me, you are wasting your time.

I manually submit them, not directly to have more traffic since one article won't pull a lot of traffic, but more for deeplinking my site.

I have just started using article submitter myself. I don't do it for traffic though, I am doing it for the backlinks.

My experience is that you don't need to submit to 100s of directories or use a program to do it. Once you submit to few directories, lots of other directory and adsense blog publishers will copy and post it in their directories if your article is of good quality. If your article quality is not good, it will be buried in millions of articles. And why you will spend your time writing articles that are not of good quality?

    Yes, Jason, be more patient.

Article marketing is one of the best free ways to bring in a lot of targetted traffic on a daily basis. Even in some Networks.

People who dont know how to do it are the ones who say it doesn't work. It should be: "It has never worked for me."

WHERE are you submitting your articles? That could be your problem right there.

It could also be that your articles are not very good. I'm just saying.

A very mixed opinion that has only clouded my question. I submit to 20 + directories including ezine and amazines to name a couple.

I will persist with manually submitting them.

Just about all directories are crap. Focus on Networks, and, other websites.

If you are comfortable with it, let's see a few of 'em.

That's how I play my article submissions. I only submit to Ezine, link to a Squidoo page that links to a blogger page to a WP page, etc., etc. Seems to work for me. For your article, just remember to make your teaser and title somewhat catchy. Try to use keywords as much as you can without getting your article kicked back. Use relevant keywords throughout as well.

    Just about, yeah.

I have a formula for measuring the real value of an article directory, and few directories measure up.

    The formula is:

Number of site pages indexed by Google / Number of Articles in Directory

On my website, we have 8250 pages indexed (http://www.google.com/search?q=site:thephantomwriters.com) / 5765 articles available = 1.43

Any number above 1.00 denotes a good article directory. The good directories all have a value of +1.00. Ordinary article directories mostly have a value of 0.10-0.20. The awful directories typically have a value of 0.05 or less.

http://www.website-articles.net/ is another good directory, with 19100 pages indexed in Google / 13752 articles on the site = 1.39

Although http://www.invisiblemba.com/ is a small niche site, it has a good score: 4870 pages indexed by Google / 3791 articles = 1.28

    http://www.articlecity.com/ has 67,800 pages indexed / 64,680 articles = 1.05

http://www.goarticles.com is typically recognized as one of the top two article directories, but its numbers don't measure up to this formula: 139,000 indexed / 840827 articles = 0.165

I don't know how many actual articles that are on EzineArticles.com, but they have 1,270,000 pages indexed in Google.

This is by no means an extensive list, but it does give an idea as to how the formula works, and how to determine which article directories you want to give your attention.

For those who are interested, with my service, I only submit articles to one directory besides my own. With my service, we have always focused on submitting to ezines, websites, blogs, etc., with little concern or attention to article directories.

We submit to ezines and webmasters through email groups, we submit to a network that manages the websites for more than 800 newspapers, and we submit to more than 150 niche blogs. No article will ever be placed on all 800 newspaper websites, nor will it be placed on all 150 blogs, because the managers of these sites have chosen only to receive content on specific topics only.

    Update...

I now know EzineArticles has +1,000,000 articles, and they have 1,270,000 pages indexed in Google. So, the formula for EzineArticles.com is as follows:
    1,270,000 indexed / 1,000,000 articles = 1.27

Article Directories with a value higher than 1.0 are considered to be worthy of our attention.
