After reading from beginning of this thread, I've got to say that this has to be stickied! Many thanks to Ponynugget for keeping the updates coming!

I've got a question that I'd like to throw out to everyone - one thing I noticed was that Ponynugget referred to 10 different CB products from his articles. Could this have driven his total conversion ratio down? Is there a rule of thumb for the number of products you promote?

Also, Samo - you've added tons of great information to this thread and I'd love to hear more about your upcoming products!

Thanks kuruvu for the kind comments. :)

Apologies for the lack of updates for the past few days, I've been hard at work doing a lot of keyword research and have found another niche to promote. I built a review style website that reviews three different products in that particular niche. We'll see how it goes anyway.

    Day 37-40 - October 6th-9th, 2007

Obviously I haven't written as many articles as I said I would. I've seen a lot of people that have written only 5 articles and receive hundreds of views a day, so I decided to really focus on what I was writing and only target unsaturated keywords. I made a big mistake with my previous articles as I was targeting very broad and general niches.

Samo, I'll definitely submit my articles to one more directory this week. Thanks for the tip mate. :)

Online business owners, internet marketers, network marketers all have two things in common - the desire to make money online, and the understanding that it takes web site traffic to do that.

I have learned from my mentor - Sean Mize - and through my personal online business experience, that there is a proven set of article marketing strategies that dramatically increase your web site traffic, but more importantly increase your conversion rates of visitors to opt in prospects.

Check my recent blog link and look for the article marketing posts or just go to ezinearticles.com and search my name....

Firstly, I assume you referred to this article, the introduction of which can be found on the blog.

It does not, in my humble opinion, say anything much. It's an overview of what article marketing is, but not a path to prosperity in article marketing. You break one of your rules btw. You link to your articles from your blog. That kind of defeats the "one way links" idea.

Other than that, there's some good info on your site. You need to do some SEO on it though, if you want to benefit from the links you have generated.

    FOK!

    i just submitted 100 articles
    21 of them have problems

    *teaser* violations
I completely change the teasers for all of them

and i still have *teaser* violations

not only that, but i"m not getting any sales.
I'm getting tons of clicks, but only a few hop link clicks.

I'm using a proven method but it's converting like crap

how long does it take most of you guys before you see serious return on your hard work? Because I'm at 100 articles and seeing ZILCH!

and for those aspiring bum marketers?

don't let my complaints dissuade you from this method.
There's so many things I could be doing better, but I'm not.
    So I'll keep working hard.

    Hi Friends

First of all, many thanks for the kind comments about my posts. Also my sincere thanks to those who gave me rep points.

I will PM you to thank you personally. Some of you have not included your id in your rep message so this is my only way to thank you.

In response to the confusion that some of my friends here have had figuring out how to properly monetize your traffic, I did promise a free report.

I did try login to the forum over the weekend to give you download details etc but on two occasions the site was unavailable. And not the first time I experienced that in my 10 days on board, I might add.

Anyway, I'm away from my office at the moment. I'll be back in touch shortly to let you have the report.

Pony, I'm delighted to read that you're testing a review site and a few other directories.

Yes, the more specific you are with your keywords the better your CTR and conversion rate. Depending on the niche etc, specific phrases get your articles located much more easily in the engine searches for those phrases and as such may just increase your traffic (article views) too.

Good luck and I'll be in touch in a few days.

    Til then, stay the course.

    Hi Kuruvu

I'm truly delighted that you have found my info of benefit.

As mentioned in my last post, I'm away from my office (and a little short of time right now). I'll reply to your message as soon as I'm back.

Success is yours, if you stay the course.

    Hey ExpertForumGuy

Work hard AND smart too. You need a strategy for the articles AND for monetization. When I get back to my office I'll give you some pointers which may help.

For now, I like the fact that you have gone to the extent of producing 100 articles. But you are wasting them if you 're submitting them in one go! Engines see that and consider it as spam and will probably not list your articles in therir results when someone searches your keywords!

    Watch this space.

For success, create a process for success and stay the course.

I thought I was working smart...

I think I may have to target smaller niches. I am attacking very huge niches right now that probably have tons of competition and little traffic.

It just kind of sucks that I've already written so many articles on these huge niches. I started out as a rookie, and I said to myself, "I might as well finish the job." I'm not seeing too much return so I'm targeted smaller niches now.

    I believe I'm working smart

I am getting a decent amount of views on my articles
About 1 out of 5 [20%] clicks through, so my author's resource box is pretty good.
My visitors are obviously targeted, otherwise they wouldn't even click through.
But when they get to my review page, they just aren't clicking on the hoplinks.

I have 2 hoplink clicks in the past two days, and the articles were approved yesterday morning I believe

I direct them to this landing page:
    http://affiliate-marketing-tips-4u.blogspot.com/

Is there anything wrong with it? Please review and tell me what you would do to make it better. [Constructive Criticism please :D]

I have written 125 articles over 25 different niches and 4 different accounts.

30 of them have problems, and 25 of them still need to be submitted.
Is there a really big difference between 70 articles, and 125 articles?
    Hopefully, we'll see right?

Anyways, my strategy is to find an excellent product that interests me, and gets a huge search volume
Then I create a review page for that product, and have 25 articles that point towards it.

I usually open a new ezine account for every new niche that I promote.

If you pm me, I can give you all the niches that I'm promoting, and you can tell me what I'm doing wrong and what i'm doing right.

I want to eventually be able to invest more in my business [autoresponder, PPC, outsourcing, web-hosting/ niche blogging empire]

I'm really just using bum marketing to jump-start my internet marketing career
If i can bring in $5000 by the end of November, I'll be all fine.
I truly do believe it's possible too

    That's all.
    Peace.

expertforumguy - i don't have experience with this so take it for what's it's worth, but I wouldn't put adsense on the same page as a presell for an affiliate link. It detracts from the focus of your page.

ponynugget, its my opinion that the CTR and clickrate is in no good relationship to the number of articles submitted and the work you put in to write 60 articles.

Dont you think so ? 388 clicks you can get easier with PPC or any other method.

I had CB products reviewed on ezine, one article i had up on there which was a honest and (IMHO) good review of a certain product on CB. It was rejected as "self promotion" :)

Is it really worth it ?

    GeorgR.,

The CTR could be much better, true, but I view this "journey" more as an experiment than anything else. I believe it's all about trial and error -- one article I've written (it was my 3rd article) has received around 800 views in a little over a month, but has less than 1% CTR for the resource box. My latest articles are now receiving a more healthy 15-20% CTR as I've learned from my mistakes and implemented techniques that I've picked up from this thread and other resources.

I honestly believe it's worth the effort. Some articles I wrote (the first few) still receive 10-20 views a day. I might not be seeing any sales now, but so long as I keep writing I'm pretty confident that I'll reap the rewards in the long run.

OK, i posted this on the 3rd of OCT:

Today, i have the same 4 articles:

On ezine i've had: 267 views and 18 clicks (14% CTR)
same articles on goarticles: 97 views. (dosnt show clicks)

My clickbank is reporting 58 hops -- No sales.

    -------------

Results kind of suck dont they??? ;)

An extra 5 hops in 10ish days.

I'm still reading this post -- it's great info, i see alot of people doing lots of hard work. Is it paying off for anyone yet???

    Good luck guys.

With the Bum Marketing technique yea you will probably could get more clicks using PPC but you pay for every click. With bum marketing every click is Free and long lasting, months down the road people will still be looking for that keyword and his article will show up, free top spots for pony. It's the residuals that keep coming in without him doing anything (after he gets them all wrote) is where it really pays off. And also some people will click the natural search engine listing before they would click the PPC ads.

clickbank is kind of tough (or is it just my impression). I started to use Clickbank Elite now, also in combination with keyword-elite. I run the whole freaking CB-database through my keyword-research to find good products.

As always: A good product WILL sell. Just seperate the junk from the good-stuff, do some reviews etc. There are some gems on CB !
