Article marketing - case study

So, I have a new adsense website up that deals with cosmetic surgery. So far, last week I wrote an article on ezinearticles, and then rewrote it for articledashboard, goarticles, and Associatedcontent. I rewrote it completely for each site and submitted the articles to each site, on the same morning.

I have google analytics on my site so I can see where my traffic is coming from. Now, this is only one article, I know, I know...it takes dozens of articles to get decent traffic...

But...so far, I am getting ALL my traffic from Ezinearticles, and NONE from anyone else! Bummer. I would love to find another site as good as Ezinearticles, but so far I haven't been able to.

But just to make it fair I'm going to do this every day for a week, and then I will report back as to what my traffic is from each site.

And I'm going to do the same thing for another niche, again, just to get a decent comparison. And if the other article sites don't start sending some traffic...I'm going to stop using them because rewriting an article three or four times is a fair amount of work when it doesn't generate much traffic.

if you're getting enough from ezinearticles, then focus on there for a while. don't waste time rewriting articles

You know, I'm sure you're right - I just really want to find another article directory that drives as much traffic as they do! Honestly I'd like dozens of directories like that. But even one would be great.

Ezinearticles is definately the way forward. After just a few days of getting accepted my title ranks front page on google for a slightly competetive key word.

I advise you to submit it to my article directory also. The URI is in my signature. You will see that it's more than just an article directory ;)

EA is the only one worth doing to be honest.

Sure, Bob, I will give it a whirl! Thanks for the link.

The rest of you guys are probably right...I'm sure if there were another site out there as good as ezinearticles I'd have heard of them by now...

I've also had okay results with Associated Content, but Ezinearticles sends more traffic, faster. So perhaps I should take that extra time it would take me to rewrite an article...and just write a second article for Ezine! Thanks y'all

Scarlettletters: You should try building some Squidoo lenses and hubpages. Those can get you some traffic. Btw people write articles to get backlinks, not just for traffic. :) Backlinks help in the long term to rank high for your main keyword.

It's DEFINITELY and not definately. :p Check this site: http://www.d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/

    Thanks for great share, +rep;)
1-Do you submit articles to EA only for traffic or for backlinks also?
2-As far as I know EA articles get republished on many other sites, can I insert a context link so that I get backlinks from those sites which republished the article?

I personally submit articles for traffic and backlinks. I am assuming that works because my site has a PR of 2 and I've only used article marketing to promote it.

When you say a "context link" what do you mean? You can put a link to your site in the author bio box or resource box or whatever they call it.

The other directories are good for getting backlinks to your internal pages.
For traffic, stick with EzineArticles and submit more that just a dozen
    for decent traffic.

Sheilasultani, I looove your picture! Where did you get that? As far as submitting articles - I would definitely make ezinearticles your number one priority. I have had some luck with Associated Content in the past. Other than that, the other article services only give me a tiny trickle of visitors. I have heard that Squidoo lenses and Hubs get ranked well - I created one Squidoo lens, wrote four ezinearticles to drive traffic to it, and made two affiliate sales for $29.35 each. I should probably start working on that more; adsense takes to long to make money.

Stick with what you're best at. If you have more success with affiliate marketing, then just leverage what you're doing. Expand into new business models such as adsense in your free time.

    Hi,

There are 2 other article directories worth your time.

    Articlesbase.com and

    American Chronicle.

These 2 do give you some decent traffic. Those article directories using article dashboard script are quite worthless. You are right to say that they do not give much traffic.

But there is still something good about submitting to as many article directories as you can. BACKLINKS!

Since I use an automated article submission software, it does not take me any more time than setting it up once and letting to go to submit to hundreds of directories for quality backlinks. This is one trick that has gotten some top rankings for my sites. ;)

Thanks for your case study Scarlett. It seems your time would be better invested in writing more articles for Ezine Articles, rather than re-write your articles for other directories to drive traffic. Then when time and money permits you can mass submit with submission software for backlinks.

Thanks Scarlett. I was about to embark on an article campaign where I would re-write the articles as you were doing to submit to other directories. Your post and all of the great advice as a result of the post has saved me time and has pointed me in the right direction.

    Thanks all.

surely Ezinearticles is good but dont you know that zero or low PR article directories worth article submission because they can get good PR in few months so you will also get good PR BACKLINKS so dont mind on that they are not giving you enough traffic but you will found a good PR BACKLINK later.
