Hi All, I think I've posted this in the correct section, here goes... I've submitted a few articles to a few article directories, and I realise that other blogs or websites can freely publish my articles on their own site. But can they 'un-hyperlink' the link back to my blog? I mean, when I hover over the links to my blog within someone elses blog, my site name is displayed as text only, and not a hyperlink back to my own blog! Answers on a postcard.... Cheers, John.
The hyper link is created as such: text to show hyperlink This would show like this: text to show hyperlink If they remove the and the railing It will be displayed simply as 'text to show hyperlink' as plain text. Hopefully that'll clear it up
Thanks for the reply Spider-Man! I was thinking though, that when someone took one of your articles and posted it in their own blog, they HAVE to keep the hyperlink pointing towards your blog. I know how it's done, was just wondering if it's ethical / immoral / illegal???
Yes, it is illegal - it's breaking copyright laws. Do you serve a copyright notice on your website? (eg. Copyright John D Stewart 2008. All Rights Reserved)
My blog is powered by Wordpress, and the copyright notice at the bottom reads: "Copyright © watchmebuildtraffic.com - Powered by WordPress" I'm pretty sure that any articles I submit to various article directories are protected by the fact that if someone publishes my article on their own blog, they MUST provide an active hyperlink back to my own blog. Frustrating thing is, I've already asked one particular website to either activate the hyperlink or delete my article. They deleted my article (fair enough), but a couple of weeks later I find that they have published THREE of my articles without an active hyperlink pointing back to my blog! I'm all for sharing my content, but I'd like some recognition in the form of a link back, and I'm almost certain that this is a legal requirement. Cheers, John.
Then look up "cease and desist" letter and send it to both the owner and a legal letter to the sites hosting company. One way or another, they will have to remove all the content, or add your link, or their host will have to shut them down - however, the latter may require an official complaint from your local authorities.
John - The same thing has happened to me many times. Emails don't seem to help much either. Hopefully a cease and desist letter will help for you.
