When writing articles is it best to write your articles optimized for the same keyword that you've optimized for on your website/webpage that you're directing visitors to. Or is it best to use totally different keywords so that your article won't compete with your website in the search engines? Hope I'm clear on what I'm trying to say here. Appreciate any quick feedback!

I have found that I get the best results when page one is related to page two but is not optimized for the same exact keyword. If the website/page I want to drive folks to is about making pickles, I would write articles about types of pickles, recipes that use pickles, etc

I suggest you explore related keywords as well. Look for other terms that your potential visitors might use when looking for a particular item or topic. say for example, when your main keyword is air conditioners, use related terms such as A/C and aircon.
