Hi guys! I'm very familiar and love article marketing using directories but is anyone out there submitting their articles to popular blogs for more targeted traffic and if so are you still concerning yourself with SERPS? Thanks in advance
on my personal point of view, I'll prefer guest blogging instead of article directory. why? well, first is to choose a popular blog (with lots of visitors each day) and do a guest blog. with your guest post, you can expect a lot of traffic coming on your site plus it's an additional backlink for popular blogs are usually gets indexed fast compare to article directory

Guest blogging can end up getting you a lot of good traffic, assuming the blog you are posting on is popular and related to your niche. It is also a good way to build some high quality backlinks, again, assuming the blog is popular and has a good pr. Article marketing is great for building a lot of links to your site very easily. And you can still get direct traffic using this method. Anyway, I would suggest you use both techniques as they can be very beneficial.
Guest blogging is a much better option because the content is related, and have some domain authority. It's a lot harder because you need to ask the blog owner for permission to post on his site, and if approved, then submit a great quality article with images, and perhaps video within the article content.

Now a days, guest blogging is more effective from a link building perspective, but sooner or later, Google will probably take this away also. Article directories have lost their effectiveness form a SEO perspective, but there are still a few that might still have some value. I used to read problogger all of the time. Now it seems more and more content comes from guest posting, and a lot of times the quality is not that good. They are basically saying the same things over and over again, and I think problogger has lost its voice.
Guest Blogging is more effective, only if you are posting on a respected and reputable blog within your niche. The main thing with guest blogging is not getting the backlinks, but getting the targeted and engaged readers.
I prefer guest blogging. You will get some permanent visitor from their. Although Article Directory Submission bears equal importance too! But I prefect guest blogging for me.
Both are important in their place but i think article marketing covers a huge area of marketing and it is more effective then the other one.
