I know that you can submit an unique article to as many article directory you can, but can anyone tell that to how many directories a single article submitted is counted in the google backlinks, I have heard people telling that out of hundred submissions only 5 to 6 are counted as backlink, whats your take on it ?

Is it legitimate to submit a single article to 100s of directories ?

if you submit the same article to 100s of drectories, then you risk having duplicate content penalty.

I wouldn't submit the same article to too many sites. As said above you might get duplicate content penalty.

The best ones that I know of are http://ezinearticles.com/ and http://hubpages.com/

With hub pages, you can add your own adsense code, and make money from your articles.

    Hope this helps!

Oh, come on. In the end, isn't it exactly what ISNARE does? Takes your article and your $2 and sends out the article to 100s or even 1000s of sources?

If this would give you penalty, would webmasters use ISNARE? :D It is your own site where you need to be worried about duplicate content, for example, if you got a blog and you let the bots crawl both your archives and subpages, you can be marked as duplicate content provider.

I agree with whirlybird. Get your articles into ezinearticles, hubpages, squidoo and goarticles and don't worry about anything else. If your articles are any good, the Ezine owners and niche communities will grab your creative work and provide you with loads of backlinks. If your articles are out of focus, you can submit them to 1,000,000 of article directories and see no results.

I always submit one article in just one article directory. I change the content and submit it to other directories. If you want to take the advantage of back links then you must submit unique content in each directory.

Be careful with Hubpages. They are really picky about anchor text and self promotion
