It's a good idea, except that the content will likely be spun copies of the original articles. It's hard to get writers to write original content for a new article directory.
Well I would imagine a good script would allow you to review (or at least skim) the article before it is posted. There are thousands of these directories out there already, so getting traffic might be a little tough. It might help to treat it like a niche-blog first. Wordpress, I believe, has a plugin to deal with article directory sites. Since WordPress sites can have better ranking in Google, I'd build my article directory with that. Then, find your niche. Go to a thesaurus site and get every (good) synonym for "article" and throw them into Google's Keyword Research Tool. See what comes up and if there is an exact domain name available for one of those keywords with a decent search volume and a niche you might be interested in working with (low competition in the SERPs helps too). As for AdSense... Yeah, it might get some clicks. The trick is you'd have to get not just writers, but readers too. Most readers know 75% of articles in directories are garbage and won't likely be attracted to a URL with the word "article" in it.
This sounds like a great idea to try out. I would at least spin the articles if you are serious about it I would recommend to purchase a article rewriter. That will help for you to get more traffic rather than them to just be copied and pasted from some website. Long Tailed keywords will also help you out ALOT.
There are hundreds of article directories on the web. Most don't make much money from adsense. You have to maintain a really good directory and spend a bit of time and money to promote it.
