I have just read that article directories are dropping in PR! Ezine articles had 7 before and now has 6, and goarticles dropped from 6 to 4. Is it a general phenomena? It would be no wonder for me, because the more articles are posted, the less value they must have.
Well.. when you republish articles, they don't always have the link to the original source.. just the authors..
You know, Big G. going to do something with all generated content sites and all sites which only purpose is to giving backlinks to the other. I don't know is this possible to do (how to distinguish good and bad sites...), but I think they are trying so this is possible, what you wrote. But now it's to soon to give a certain conclusion.
I understand G is trying to screen off all bought links. I am thinking they will employ some sophisticated methodology as some decent directories require payment for a listing. The drop in rank of the article directories may also be a result of an update they are running on the PR algo.
They are just downgrading content that's all over the place, links from that content and probably pages that use the content.
I would think about the value of article web-sites... theoretically they are providing people who wish to have content with that content and article authors with backlink to their web-sites. I don't think that the added value of articles sites changed, their quantity just increasing fast, probably that is the reason why google drop their PR. I think that this is more the problem of article sites owners, than these who write articles.
I agree to that. But if the PR of article sites get lower, the PR of the articles also go lower, so it's also a problem for the writers. I have seen more confirmation of other article directories, that have kept the same PR, so maybe it's not a general tendency. Or the tendency will become bigger.
Exactly, and most of the articles posted there are spam. Google has done an awesome job in identifying and removing spam from their results this time around. Article sites are one of the main sources, so I am glad to see this happen.
I generally have a filling that article submitting is the best (in terms of spending/profit) tool for me now. I have experienced some drop in PR of my articles, but the trafic is stable.... So probably, what we experience about PR of article sites (and some other) is just how google reacts on growing web and there is nothing to worry about (in terms of traffic and profits).
Same thing is happening to the bigger web directories...both Alive and Aviva dropped from PR7 to PR6...I guess Google is up to something major.. Otherwise Goarticles has more than enough backlinks to get PR5 or higher.. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.c...ticles.com&bwm=i&bwmf=s&searchbwm=Explore+URL http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=link:http://www.goarticles.com&btnG=Search
