Article Depot Improvements

Just a short post to follow up on the changes I promised for Article Depot

Our newest change is that Anchor Text is now allowed in addition to Live Links in both the Article box AND the About the Author Box. Anyone that had been previously using Anchor Text will now see their old articles come alive automatically.

Please note that no other HTML tags are allowed and can result in non-approval. We will be changing the TOS soon to reflect this fact.

Also - In the last update, we had an issue with "Ommitted Pages" which affected our indexing. That has now been fixed by adding dynamic Titles and Descriptions as well as a few on page tweaks.

Following those changes we had 5,000 pages indexed in the last two days. This means nearly everyone who has submitted as of Monday, has their article and links indexed

We have put the Mod_ReWrite on hold for now as there seems to be no issues with indexing and we are focusing our attention elsewhere like on RSS Feeds and a few other surprise features.

Thanks for Everyones support and feel free to Submit Your Article!

Rather than be another Carbon Copy we are trying to fill a requested niche. Most article sites are very stingy with links and make you jump through hoops just for the privilage of submitting to them.

We are trying to add only features that benefit the user ;)

No complex signups or nofollow tags.

Our non-submitting user base is growing pretty steadily too which helps as the artciles are getting more and more distribution.

RSS is the next major step as that will mean an Article will potentially be distributed within minutes of it being approved. Helping out all parties involved.

If you have any suggestions of things to add we are all ears. As long as it doesn't conflict with ease of use, we'll do it!

Maby there's this is an suggestion as functionality to the writers of the articles, create an login service so that modifications to the text can be made. After the modification set the article back into acceptation process for review.

I'm making this suggestion because I saw some typo's and link errors in the articles when browsing the site.

RSS Feeds will be an great feature to the site. Are the feeds going to be divided into categories? And/or will there be an feature to make an search query that outputs rss feed?

There are a few old articles that may still have a bad link. This was before our big rollout of changes and we are slowly working back through them correcting them. We have considered a control panel that requires changes after the fact but it has been shelved for now. The main reason being it is commonly used to enter a Spam article after the original has been approved. The only way around this is to have a seperate approval process for revisions which is very time consuming. For now we will simply be correcting new entries that have these issues. For the older requests there will soon be a "Report this Article" feature. We are just trying to make it as easy as possible so its used a lot before implementing it. Its a good idea though and one we will always consider.
There will be all kinds of options. Things like

    Newest Submitted
    By Category (Specific like "Humour")
By Category (Broad like "Webmaster" that will encompass many related categories)
    And a few more.

    Cheers

The articles written this way are usually the best. Those filled with emotion make for some pretty good reading. Since I read most of the articles myself (at least half), I look forward to these type.

Some of the funnier ones rank right up there too.

great work, yfs1. ezinearticles.com is my favoriate right now. But it doesn't do mod-rewrite. With your SEO expertise, wish you build the best article site on the net in years to come.

EZinearticles and GoArticles are definately the best ones right now. I had a list of about 150 different article submission sites and I tried every single one. The majority of them were pretty bad and thats why I started Article Depot.

We have also partnered up with another fairly large article site which allows its members to also submit their articles to use with a touch of the button. They still go through our own approval process which is ideal and hopefully will mean we are able to provide more and more content to Webmasters looking to supplement their own sites.

Thanks dejeone, I've been meaning to try out your Directory Submission since you fixed it but haven't had a chance. Maybe I'll give it a run today ;)
