    Hey guys,

I am starting to learn how to make graphics nothing fancy just header logos for my sites. I wanted to get your opinion on whether or not it is worth my time...

you see I suck at anything art related so cant draw and cant design decent looking websites. I am good at anything technical, i can code decent structured websites but cant make them look great.

So I was wondering do you think I would be any good at producing good header banners, logos etc. for my sites through technical knowledge of photoshop and the like or should I just stick to what I am good at and outsource my logos?

I say just go for. What have you got to lose?

Start by following tutorials and learning as much as you can about the software that you plan on using (photoshop, fireworks, gimp, ...whatever) Once you get a handle on the software (it is only a tool) I would recommend trying to duplicate some designs that you admire (obviously don't use them exactly as that would be illegal...) but once you try and mimic your favorite designs you might accidentally stumble on something unique and make it your own.

If at the end of your journey, you still think that you don't have the chops to design your own stuff them outsource it. But you will have a better knowledge of the software and design process which might help in communicating your needs better with your designer. Not to mention more respect and better conversations.

    Best of luck!

You cannot compare both of them, they both have their own identity art without technical knowledge is nothing and technical knowledge without art is nothing too
