    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has come across the fact that your site is wiped out by google. I've spent 6 months seo'ing my website and it was hovering just off page 1 for many keywords. Now, all of a sudden, it's nowhere to be seen. Its still indexed and is a an aged domain (3 years)

The only thing I can think of is that I paid some guy $30 for 500 directory submissions plus 50 articles. Thats fine, the guy has done as asked but just wondering if its triggered some kind of google penalty. If so, that is totally ridiculous! If that could happen, I could replace the entire top 10 SERPs for keywords for $300?! That can't be right, so I figure it must be something else.

Webmaster tools isn't reporting malware or crawl errors. Totally miffed - understandably as all my hard work over the last 6 months seems to have gone down the pan.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    Stu

When did this happen? I was going to say it is a sandbox effect, but that is unlikely to happen on a new domain. It is also unlikely to happen just because of some spun articles. Are you sure you have not lost any authoritative links. We had a site that fell off the front page, and we found it was one of our parner websites that had remove a link.

Its been a couple of days now. I only know of one pr5 link we've lost recently (and subsequently regained). However, I'm not convinced that one link would account for a 400+ drop in rankings? I can only pray its a glitch on Google's part and hopefully my site will return soon.

On a side note, I googled, "site vanished from google" and got loads of results from 2006/2009 etc. So much for up-to-date results Google!
