Source: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2012/02/arizona-GOP-star-own-gay-scandal/48890/ Republicans, the party of hypocrite closet gays. What a surprise, NOT.
I wont waste my time looking for the link, but not only is your link a half a year old, this story has already been discussed on DP. The fact the Sheriff is gay is what is called the worst kept secret in Arizona. Everyone knows he is gay. He goes out to the gay bars with his boyfriend on a regular basis. I think what pisses liberals off so much about this guy is that a) He's gay and Republcan, and b) he's tough on immigration but was dating someone of Mexican blood, instantly debunking the idea that Republicans are anti-gay and that someone who is tough on enforcing our immigration laws is somehow a racist. You want to see the anti-gay sentiment in action, just wait till Nov. when the black and Latino communities show their enthusiasm for the President's new found views on gay marriage.
The idea is not that Republicans are anti-gay, the idea is that Republicans are closet gays which has been proven by so many of them.
Not any more, it just leaves couple of members of this forum and the rest of Republican party as closet gays.
I'm trying to figure out how a man with a long term boyfriend who he is openly gay with in public is somehow closeted. Just another example of yellow journalism. Regarding the claim of threatened deportation, the guy is a legal US resident and therefore not possible to deport. The claim itself is just sour grapes and politically motivated nonsense, and the repetition of it by the paper is just more yellow journalism. Its no wonder people have to read 5 different flavors of a story to get a sense of the truth.
Three months ago, this guy was outed as gay: source What makes the story current is that a few days ago he dropped out of a primary race for Congress: here and here. So here is a guy with a huge deep conservative reputation that was outed as Gay 3 months earlier but decided to stay in a race for a seat in Congress, despite his considerable change in public status. It appears that after he was outed....the huge amounts of money directed to his campaign, mostly from out of state Conservatives significantly dried up...Conservatives don't like to support Gay Candidates. Babeu was outed in Mid Feb, the first quarter results were through March 31....and with that time period...this formerly popular Right Wing Candidate...who had raised over 1/4 of a $1 million in the previous quarter...saw his campaign financing effort return virtually half that...most assuredly because he was outted. I'd say Conservative fund raisers simply don't want to support a gay candidate. They gave him plenty of money when they never imagined he was gay...and they cut back on that funding once they discovered he was gay. Frankly if you compare the amount of money he received 4th quarter 2011 to what he received 1st quarter 2012....it appears his financial support Totally Dried UP once he was outted half way through the first quarter. Pretty clear picture to me. The current GOP makes no bones about it. No support at all if you are gay. Romney had a Gay staffer who was pushed out by Right Wing Fundamentalist Extremists And that foreign policy expert had gained his experience working directly for John Bolton, a foreign policy expert with enormous Right Wing credentials. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground here from the Right. The Right Wing is ferociously anti-gay (no matter how you try and spin it, O_Nation )
Poor Earlpearl. All the hand wringing and hateful accusations won't save the demoralized and shrinking Democratic party this November. In 2010, 6% more of the gay vote left the Democrats for the GOP, for a total of 31%. Looking at what Obama has done to our economy, I'd bet you another 6% abandon the Democrats this fall, no matter how much race baiting and name calling people like you do.
Hmmm. I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around how you might know that. I mean the European whoring business being all Romanian, I figured hey, you must be a guy in a position to know. Are you now telling me you've been hanging out in the gay bath houses of Washington DC, collecting information in the warm afterglow of pillow talk?
