Today someone e-mailed me saying they were banned from google adsense. They proceeded to ask me my recommendation on a new ad company.

I asked them why they were banned and they said "I don't know"

They later told me that they were making their own money by clicking on their own ads. Said he easily made 100/month from this...

    - got on another computer (different IP)
    - went to his site with the google adsense and clicked an ad 5 times.
-went to a proxy site and went to his website again, then clicked on an ad 5 times.
-He said he just changed proxies every 5 clicks and they never caught on

I told him that is probably why he was banned, But It made me think about it. I'm no master with this kind of stuff but i just don't think there would be such an easy way like that.

    What do you think?

Because I sure aint' gonna try it to see... hah

Yes they can and do actively track these sorts of things. They use various methods. He was bound to get caught doing what he did because his clicks were not natural. Google tracks everything from the initial click through to how long you stay on the site and where you go from there. So 5 clicks, new IP, 5 more clicks, new IP 5 more clicks it's just ridiculous and I'd be surprised if he even got a single dollar from them. Like everything Google there's a lot of secrecy about how they track and what they track but rest assured they definitely do track.
