No, I dont have any mental illness, but I've got this radio program that is playing on my computer. I don't know how to stop it, and it's really annoying. I've terminated almost all the processes, but it's still here! It's happened before, and when it happened the previous times it just stopped, but it's back again. And I think I'm gonna flip soon... ...Turn my pc off? No ...Turn my speakers off? I have, but I want to play music now Thanks in advance PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Simon
I think the easy thing is just to restart your computer. It's way better than cracking your brain to figure out a way to stop the noise. =)
uninstall your sound driver...restart your system and then reinstall your sound driver... if theres some problem with your driver, it'll get fixed. if that doesnt work...or well do this 1st goto run->msconfig goto startup and disable everything except your antivirus(and other programs known to you) goto services->hide all microsoft services and disable the service not known to you.
Get yourself ZoneAlarm ForceField, you can read up about it via a google search to find out how it may help you and take the worry out of your mind too. ZoneAlarm too is the trusted name that millions are aware of and use as their firewall. Hope this helps. All the best! Mark
Well, I restarted my computer, and they've gone. They only come sometimes, and then they stop immediately. Although, now I've got a new problem. In my process-killing-spree I seem to have deleted all my bookmarks. I'm just going to restart again and hope for the best. I had hundreds!!!!!!
Try System Restore, see if you can roll back your system to an older time, for example to a time before the problem started in the first case. If that doesn't work, try http://www.daniweb.com Good luck!
System Restore sounds a bit extreme, they only come every now and again, and usually I just listen to my iPod but its out of charge. At the moment I'm more concerned about the bookmarks. Just tried to put a few back in, but I had hundreds now I probably have 20, and can't remember the rest .
There's nothing extreme about it in the slightest, it just rolls your system back to when it was last working correctly. Had a problem here a day or so ago, with a program that crashed this machine, just did a System Restore, problem solved. It was as easy as can be, only takes a few minutes. You do know how to do it don't you? I must admit, I'm not sure if it will restore all your bookmarks though. Perhaps someone else will be kind enough to advise on this? As I said, try Daniweb.com - someone there is bound to be able to help you. Gave you the link above. All the best! Mark
Cool, thanks. Im a bit of a pc newbie (not completely dumb, bit higher than average probably), so I thought it sounded risky. I'll give it a shot..
If you've got Windows XP, click Start after which click on Help & Support, the Help and Support Center will pop up then under Pick A Task, go for the 3rd option down: Undo changes to your computer with System Restore, click that. Click Next if the first option is already ticked for you, Restore My Computer To An Earlier Time. Then click on a date, the later the better, when you know your pc was last working ok, and click Next. The next screen will show your selected restore point, if it's ok, click Next again. Let us know how you get on.
Also check this out, I'm assuming you use Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks Failing that, see if you can find a solution via this page: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=restore+bookmarks&btnG=Google+Search&meta= Happy to help. Mark
Errm, Seems like some application or might be a Virus Try doing this if restart doesn't help Start menu >> Run >> msconfig >> Disable everything from startup
Are you using AIM? If you are, that's where the sound is coming from. AIM6 or newer has an option where people can upload their own tune when they log on or off.
nothing will happen after system restore...just your previous settings of applications will be restored.. some of the apps might get deleted after it...but you'll have ur bookmarks back..
Thanks for the help everyone. The voices have stopped (until next time ) and I'm currently trying to get my bookmarks back
