Argh, GoDaddy!

Alright, so I was randomly pinging off common words (I was bored :p) at GoDaddy, and to me surprise it told me that investment.info was available :)eek:). I did check, refreshed the page 3-4 times yet it still was there, so I completed the tedious process of registering it (worth it for that word, eh?) and got the confirmation from GoDaddy that I had secured it. Was ready to go out and celebrate, but did a WHOIS and it told me that www.investment.info was regged by an American company, then got an email about 5 minutes later from GoDaddy saying that they were sorry but it was already registered.

Anyone else had such problems? They took $1.19 from my account too

I just did a Whois and the domain name was registered since 2001 and would expire only in 2008 but currently on Hold probably due to some mismatch in registrant's details. It appears that GoDaddy database is not updated or there is a mess up somewhere. Contact them and ask for a refund.

Don't worry you will get a refund, have heard a few times that Godaddy is quite slow at updating its database, but this is ridiculous!

This is really ironic considering that they're the biggest domain registrar on the web.

But you'll definitely get a refund.

Yup happens pretty often, I used to hunt for dropped domains with PR and I also used GoDaddy to see if the domain was available - this happened three times in one week to me.

Really sucks doesn't it, I also imagined the dollar signs.

Refund will be given, usually they run the registry (of the domain) a few times to make sure that it isn't available, usually happens to parked domains for some reason or domains that are up for sale/auction elsewhere.
