I live in southern California and am amazed at the level homerism in the local radio. In particular, one station spends a better part of the mid-day talking about the Lakers as if they were were on the the verge of eighteen-peating. They discuss the Lakers year round. I just watched a portion of an ESPN mid season discussion and their was virtually no mention of the Lakers. It's nice to be brought back to reality...but my homer feelings were hurt as they mentioned Cleveland, Washington, Miami, but didn't gush over my beloved Pisions.
Homerific! radio in general B-LOWS, sports or otherwise. Probably the closer you get to the core of a city with a high profile team the worse it is. it could be worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrjk5Kptm8g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We9nSayJ4HA
One or more of the sports radio stations have put on guys like your second clip for the morning drive. No sports just inuendos. The last one a guy named man-cow or at leas that's the way it was pronounced. They upgraded to a local sports writer, his daughter, and a TV sports guy - not a Lakers Lakers Lakers as the mid day guys.
I've heard of man-cow...unless of course the airwaves are filled with man-cows! I think the stations here aren't too biased/annoying...being that this is home of the UT Longhorns. They do a pretty good job covering the spectrum
I heard about the Longhorns about a year ago on the radio in so. Cal. They are the team that was out played by a superior USC team but Texas enjoyed a scoreboard malfunction that implied they actually beat the might Trojans, right?
lol scoreboard malfunction sounds about right. We're not fans mind you, my wife went to TX Tech and well, all colleges in TX hate the other colleges in TX....Longhorns especially. THOUGH, the Natl. CH afforded me some great photo opportunities of the "UT Tower" being all lit up with a "1" and for that I was grateful of the outcome.
