I am getting close to retirement so I am working hard to bulid a passive income and a post retirement career. As the weather gets nicer it's sometimes really hard to sit down at the computer. I am motivated by a sense of urgency.
What motivates me is that i found something i like to do--seo part is a pain but you can't get everything you want in life.
I have too much motivation, I am not too sure why, but its probably because I kind of failed school, and now, after 3 years, I have achieved so much that it just keeps me going. For example: (not trying to show off) My First Ever Public Success http://www.burnley.ac.uk/website04/gen/gen_news.asp?id=75 More http://www.burnley.ac.uk/website04/gen/gen_news.asp?id=184 http://www.burnley.ac.uk/website04/gen/gen_news.asp?id=213 I think the key to keeping yourself motivated is vary your tasks For example, my college course is about software mainly, nothing to do with web design or IM. Due to the vast amount of different activies I implement per day, going to college/work, designing/coding sites, help people solve problems, do college work + all my recreational activities, this helps keep motivated.
I am totally the opposite. i am really motivated, for the first 12 months i didnt earn a penny from my online business, but i still put in 7-10 hours per day, 5-6 days a week. after about 12 months had passed i am now earning a lot of moeny from my site, so in my opinion, all that effort has really paid off.
That is what is driving me. I am currently a student with a part time job. There is no way I can support myself on my site, but I hope to do that one day (not solely on one site, but I'll start with that, and maybe a couple more websites and other 'at home' type of businesses. Been thinking about real-estate with all the free time I could have). Anyway, my website is a gaming forum, which is where I used to spend a lot of my free time anyway. I am not as motivated as I should be about promoting it though, mainly because marketing a forum takes a while before you see any real results. But, if all goes well, it will be great for me in the end. I'll have a 'job' doing what I love with so much freedom.
Do you build your own sites too? Marketing does take time and us students need results immediately.. (lack of funds.. debt from school). Ever tried part time website design instead?
If I had more time I could be earning LOADS! but.. I have school and stuff so w/e I have to set my priorities!
I am not sure what will motivate me to work and create a profit to better myself as a person. I was not a successful student. I hope that the reasoning and lack of motivation behind that does not impede my role in the online marketing world. Money is a large motivating factor for me. I am sure that I will become more motivated than ever when I receive some sort of monetary compensation for my work.
Self-motivation is not easy to accomplish and everyone has different levels of motivation they need to keep going. I find that setting short term achievable goals/milestones keep me motivated. Its the same old saying... how do you eat an elephant? ONE BITE AT A TIME. So, to keep yourself motivated just focus on chewing one bite at a time ane in the end you will reach your ultimate goal.
That would seem to be the best way to go about it. Just curious, by outsourcing do you mean everything? I.E. web design, content, marketing? All you do is come up with the idea and possibly buy the domain name?
This is good advice. Elephant sandwiches, elephant stew, elephant sushi...and then one day the elephant is gone and you're making money from the internet! I am 100% convinced that getting your mind to just do it is the most difficult part of being a success.
I've got too much motivation, as i get a kick out of the challenges. Its a problem as i dont charge enough because although i've been doing SEO for 7 years it's more fun then work. I actually run a 4 line 300baud BBS on the Commodore 64 back in the 80's and still dont get bored of all this.
I've been reading a lot. But now I'm not going to get any new books until I put something in place. Once that's done, I'll try to start something else. Working full time besides the internet is a long day/week.
