I am using Gmail as a my primary email and for other professional communication i am using my webmail. Yahoo is also good but in yahoo.com there is no facility of POP3.
GMail is excellent service and i love it, never think about to ban it. GMail is perfect solution for all kind of Mailing.
I like GMail. It's easy to use and it's what I'm used to. The other web based emails (Yahoo etc) aren't nearly as good in my experience and I hate using outlook and that sort of thing. I like to be able to check my email from anywhere. Anyway, as far as you being worried about Google searching (and then reading) through emails of it's users... I don't think so. If people felt their emails were being read then they would no longer use GMail which would mean one less revenue source for Google. I also wouldn't be surprised if such action would lead to lawsuits and much bad press. They just don't need it. Why would they do that?
I used to use Gmail, but stopped for the exact same reasons mentioned here. I now use the portable version of thunderbird and carry my email accounts where ever I go, much easier. The only thing I miss is gmail spam protection.
It could be because I'm paranoid, but Google will not be so eager and get all the information on you by searching you: email account using Gmail website code using Analytics personal computer files using google desktop cell phone information with their new OS android And not use that info to personalize ads, learn about your surfing habbits and what's most important - see how you're trying to manipulate their search algorithm. It cannot be that they have so much info stored on their servers and they hold themselves from taking a peak and perhaps use that info.
Dont even worry.... IT is illegal for google to read your private emails, and if they did and you could prove it, you would make a good amount of money .
Your missing the point of this thread. The real question in discussion here is whether or not GMail is Good for SEO?
gmail is my primary email for chatting, hotmail for msn messenger and yahoo sometimes for yahoo messenger.
Anyone who sends out these link exchange emails is a complete tit and doesn't deserve a Gmail account. Thats what I think.
You're really that innocent and all of your links comes due to your great content and quality websites?? I doubt it... since there's not much choice but to exchange links in different ways and methods, we should all use a non-google mail account.
i prefer using gmail because it easily receives mail compared to others mail have to go around the earth before you receive it and not only once sometimes the around the world trip takes 4 spin...
I don't know how I've missed your post. Not all link exchange mails are spam and some has some interesting offers from actually relevant websites. Link exchange in my opinion is a "white hat" seo technique, but in any case you would not want google to sniff in your seo techniques and prehaps prevent you from getting to the top ranking.
I use gmail as my spam dump. I use it for signing up for stuff. I have like 2000mb of junk mail in it now. I will have to open another one soon when that gets full.... read this story http://gmail-is-too-creepy.com/
