Day after day, on every forum you find people posting their services for hire. Thats ok with me if the forum rules allow so. But what I am post pissed off is the phrase 'We are a leading company' when actually its a one-man startup. Obviously any leading company would not 'spam' forums and other sections where such classifieds are not supposed to be posted. Are you too sick of those deceptive(or plain lies) or is it just me who keeps on finding faults with things all the time? Moreover I think that such practices could also mean damage to reputation because you are trying to 'put an impression' of what you actually aren't. People experienced in the industry know how to spot a really leading company and a company that proclaims it as a leader. Usually I would just stop reading further when I see those words cause you can 'smell' deception? Isn't it?
Sure I am sick of those, but Internet laws aren't matured and it aint easy to seek redress if they are spamming you with these. At the moment, my best companion is my spam filter and my Delete button.
I think in my opinion that it is better to be the Authority to get around this Leading because I agree leading cutting state of these words are all over used. Authority works for us but you better be truly the authority and you do not need to be the industry leader to be and Authority however you need to be top of the game in your niche like us being the Email Marketing Authority .com we truly might not be the best but we work hard at it. P.S. We are not a one man start up here either. Logic
One thing I find humorous is that it is easy to be a leading company if there aren't any competitors of substance. I could say something like "we are the leading provider of sugar-coated toothpicks" but, really, how many other providers are there? When taking a statistics course in college, I learned how many ways there are to make results look like you want them to look. This is not to say that all polls, tracking, and other sources of information are always trash. The point is claiming something is true is always easier than proving it. Rather than claiming to be a leading company, show me what you are doing to help me, the customer, to build a business relationship with you. So many emails, snail mails, and others promotions seem like they are pulled from a template somewhere.
