Are you seeing big changes in ur rankings?

Since I week I am seeing huge drops in my ranking for most keywords. Not one or two but across the board.

First I thought it was because my site was down for half a day. But now I think that google is penalizing my site. Or will everything be ok after the next update ??

Just curious if you guys are observing anything similar.

No one really know what is going on, but quite a few webmasters report their appaently innocent web sites are being dropped wholesale from the SERPS.

My theory: Google screwed something up.

The big question is: How long will it take them to fix it? I'm losing almost $200/day in potential revenue as long as this continues.

Potential revenue is revenue I would be making if it were not for this screw-up. It's revenue which I was making before last weekend.

If I was losing $200/day, I would be very stressed! Instead, I am making $300/day instead of $500/day.

I'm not so stressed, but I am quite annoyed. :D

    fryman:

    It was last weekend.

I'm not sure that "update" is exactly the right word... but a lot of sites disappeared.

Only one of my sites was affected. It just happened to be my best revenue producing site.

Oh... why couldn't they have taken the Internet Search Engines FAQ instead...

I am taking the disappearance of my main term as a serious wake up call to diversify. I have been focused on content because I like to write, and avoiding products because of the headaches they create. I need to rethink that.

Also I think some entity diversification as discussed in the "shoemoney" thread would be a good thing to consider.

noppid -- Pigeon is very good. My dad liked to use the good china every one in a while, so for Sunday dinner in our very modest home, we would have roasted pigeons served on china with the crystal goblets and the sterling silverware. They looked like tiny cornish game hens. Not much meat on the drumsticks through :)

No changes for me so far.

Have either of you had a sudden increase in the number of pages indexed by Google. I had a similar problem last year and this was because of over 2,000 pages indexed in a four week period (due to mod-rewrite)

After 3 months I appeared back in the search engine results (and my rankings were much better than prior), but it was a scary few months.
