Seeing as Freewebspace didn't answer your question, I will. Analytics isn't 100% accurate because it is Javascript and not everyone allows JS to run. That is the only drawback to it AFAIK. I personally use it on Directory Share General Directory in combination with a customized version of AWStats. Analytics tends to have lower traffic numbers when compared to the same period in AWStats, but Analytics has better advanced features.
I don't bother running it on my web directory but after examining the wonderful posts in this thread, I just may reconsider.
I've stuck mine in the footer.tpl (just above the /body) - not sure if that is the best location for it though, seemed through my CSS out when i tried it else where...
Wont need that as silkysmooth will handle that end with his own version http://www.dvaluation.com/ thx malcolm
Silky is very good a what he does... http://www.dvaluation.com/ I can tell you that it will be well worth any investment and it will be state of the art with more stats and info then whats currently out or even thought of yet by others thx malcolm
I added Google analytics just few days back and the traffic stats shows a decrease of 1/3rd of what it shows on awastats. Though one good thing is-- The organic traffic ( SE) jumps more than 13times with analytics.
