I've just decided to add that little bit of javascript to a couple of my directories so as to try out Google analytics... who else has this on their directories and how do the results compare to other server side installed traffic recording applications like awstats?
I use this on three sites and find the information usefull! I have some other built in tools on two of my sites and they are not as indepth. I am glad I use it even though my sites are young. I hope to learn how to use the data and convert visitors more.
We run Google Analytics at our Business to Business Directory We are very happy with the results, support and analytics provided. Being free is a plus too
Depending how you set things up, it can be extremely useful. It's all a matter of how detailed you get into it. I personally love how it tracks the Search Engines for you.
This thread just reminded me that I forgot to add the Javascript in new template. Just added it. (Missed my two days stats ) Thanks Sabian
How so, are there any specific area that are inaccurate? or are we talking general traffic visits or something more specific?
i use it for zorg links. its good for showing SE traffic, but it doesnt track robots. the stats are also very different to awstats, so i never know which is right
I have recently replaced statcounter for analytics. Overall I prefer it but there are a couple of features I think it should have. 1. Real time stats, at the moment they are updated daily, statcounter was good for real time stats. 2. Secondly an overview like statcounter so I could instantly see the current daily visitors for each site. statcounter had this but it showed pageviews which I found annoying. Over than that analytics is great, I still haven't tried out all it's features although it does seem more complicated than statcounter.
I use analytics for overall stats, and Weblog Expert for interday stats when I need them, works a treat.
I use it on my directory. It is really useful. Though my awstats always shows that I get a couple more hundred uniques than what analytics shows.
I use analytics on my web directory. I have a custom thanks page, which appears after payments. This allows me to use the 'goal' feature in analytics.
