Are you primed for a Google slapping?

    There is a lot of valuable info on this forum (and on the web in general) about what it takes to have a site that is successful with regard to Google ranking. Yes it's about keyword optmisation and SEO and all the good stuff that keeps the bots happy when reporting back to the Google mother ship about your site - but has anyone considered the human factor? As we all know, Google are loaded, so they can afford to have real people to do site evaluations as well, and they also have to be happy with your site.

    I was not really aware of this until someone mentioned to me that they had been shown a site that had been slapped by Google. It was a site offering an Internet Marketing opportunity, but in reality it was really just a sales page offering an opt-in. The business offering felt over-marketed (in the sense that the earnings and results mentioned on the page seemed unrealistic) and all the facts were shouting at you with incredible gains.

    From a human perspective, the look and feel just did not seem right - it just did not give the impression of being "trustworthy". Who knows maybe it was or maybe it wasn't, the point is someone at Google thought it was not worth a high Quality Score, so they gave it a low one. But the biggest issue was the lack of contact information. Nowhere on the site was there any information where one could email or phone a person to get in contact with them to enquire about the product or service. This, along with everything else is believed to have led to the "human" Google slapping.

    Would the Google experts agree that this what may lead to your site being viewed negatively by Google? Has anyone had experience of this? Or is it just a matter of keeping the bots happy?
