Always trying but if you feed a few homeless people here, how can it stop the hundreds of thousands of dead and displaced in iraq over a lie of a war? the power of the people that dont care is far greater then the power of teh people that really care for others. Its an uphill battle all the way.

Well unless i did a thread about how 9/11 was an inside job, i doubt there would be any interest from the DP troofer crowd.

Reality doesn't count does it pingy?

I can't answer that at the moment, can I opt to stay for a week in hell and a week in heaven before choosing?

You're using human logic to judge God. It's like a 2 year old getting mad at their parents for having to take a nap. Does that make the parents evil?

Out of context. Try reading the New Testiment.

It's very clear in the Bible that God doesn't want anyone to burn in hell. All you have to do is take a free spiritual gift. And back to the first question you asked--who are you to decide whether God's decisions are moral or not? he wrote the script and we're just the actors in it. I feel lucky that he even gives us a chance to be with him if we can simply accept that we are His creation, not the other way around.

Personally I have always avoided trying to interpret Revelation. I don't feel like it really matters when the world will end when it could end for any one of us at any moment anyway.

You can opt for whatever you want, but you might have a hard time getting out of hell. The whole eternity thing is a pain in the ass.

    Good point.

I was raised a Christian and I think the idea of hell for eternity! is very unfair to the billions of people who are born with parents who follow other religions.

Doesn't matter how good you are, you can never be perfect enough to get to Heaven on your own.

Some people believe in purgatory, where you are not good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell. In Islam, some believe hell is temporary. In Judaism some believe you could spend a year in purgatory before heaven. Roman Catholics and Mormons believe in purgatory.

I don't believe in free will, but that has nothing to do with it. Decisions are made with or without free will.

For instance: Every person that goes to hell because they were raised in a different religion, the responsibility for them falls back on Christians as well, for not getting the Word to them in time.

It's hard being a Christian. You have to constantly work to remember that God still loves you even though you keep falling short of his glory.

Then, if you are a Christian, you should feel a calling to get the word out however you can. If you're not a Christian, you should feel a calling to become a Christian and repeat the above step.

I think I raised valid questions. I guess even if G-d wants to burn up our loved ones, we should all follow along because the bible says so? There is a difference between making a 2 yr old take a nap vs. burning them forever.

What is out of context? Was that a different G-d?

Life to me is not a script with actors. It is more precious than that. I am the ultimate authority on what is moral, in my life.

I use examples like that because I don't know any other way to explain what I'm thinking. You know that I don't think of them as the same thing.

And maybe you're not getting what I'm saying--God is moral and just, so just because it's wrong for us to burn our children for not believing what we say, it doesn't make it wrong for God to do it. He/She is God afterall.

The old testiment combined with Christ's sacrifice and message of peace combined with His disciple's writings give a clear picture of God. Some of it seems on the surface to contradict it'self if you don't look at the whole context. If you don't have time to study it, you just have to have faith that it makes sense in context.

Yes, but is your life and your world more precious to you then your eternal soul and the eternal souls of all the people in the world?

Everytime you do something evil , dont you feel like ur losing a part of urself(your humanity) in the process? Your conscience, your empathy, your warmth, your compassion? These things are not part of our intellect. They come from a place that is way beyond the nerve endings or ganglions. The heart, the soul, the spirit(whatever u wanna call it).
We can either grow these parts of us through acts of kindness or love or we can destroy them through acts of selfishness, evil , hate and WAR.
As far as being atheist or not, i just described what most christians believe the soul is here on earth. Now if you dont believe we have souls and are going to blink into nothingness please disregard this post, but i believe that we are more then just flesh, blood and nerves.

Through my old bible study course i asked my bible study teacher the question of why the god from the old testament seemed different from the god of the new testamament. In some ways they werea bit different but most people seem to forget that jesus talks about the gnashing of teeth but he does lol. We were told that god in the old testament stooped down to our level because we didnt know any better and werent ready for jesus
yet. Everything in the old testament was there to prepare us for the comping of jesus. It was a long and painful preparation .

    * Jesus was the son of a humble family.
    * He was a human being.
    * Most of the New Testament was written over 35 years after Jesus was killed.

Is there any one of these facts which you disagree with?

I agree with the first two and honestly don't know the dates of the New Testament writings, but not saying I disagree, just don't know.

Which one of us were you asking though?

Spending eternity in the same place, heaven or hell is bound to get mighty boring.
30 days in hell, next 30 on earth and next 30 in heaven, that sounds fine.
I am afraid, i won't be able to tell the difference.

Don't you remember that time flies when you're having fun? ;) Seriously, the whole idea of Heaven is that it would be impossible to get bored, feel bad, etc... all the things that bother us on earth--gone!
