Twitter made a modification a couple of month ago in regards to the 'title tag', this slight amendment meant that Twitter account names and the actual name of the user would rank better in the SE. As an obvious example: Name: Azzam Sheikh Username: wowjoomla One Line Bio: Search Engine and Social Media Consultant based in UK. Developing awesome Joomla and Wordpress applications. The results of this will be thus on Google: Azzam Sheikh (wowjoomla) on Twitter (URL) Search Engine and Social Media Consultant based in UK. Developing awesome Joomla and Wordpress applications. (description) Now here is the trick: It is a 3 step approach therefore like a squidoo/hub page or any other 3rd party real estate you ranking the Twitter page that will include a link to your site that you want to convince people to click. First off create a new twitter account and make the following modification. Name: long tail keyword Username: another long tail keyword one line bio: something that sells your service. Put the url of the site you want people to visit. Download a decent twitter background PSD or modifications that can be done online, I have seen a website that allows you to create a twitter background from their service online; you will have to find in via google. Use the twitter background to make contact with the visitor and get them to 'click the link' Update your profile with tweets that include the keyword and a link to your site. Most of the links on twitter are nofollow that is why you have to do the hard work of convincing the visitor to click the links. If you are will to put the time in you could generate more followers and for a trick like this you will probably not get genuine followers, so just attract all the crap that is out there just to give an impression to the visitors that your got some good following 100 should be more then enough. What you can do later is change the username or real name to something appropriate once it sticks in the search engines. *ONLY FOR GEEKS* You can take it to the next level if you got the time and part of it the development skills. Ever notice that some twitter profiles have a PR 5/6/7. What if you got that for your twitter page with a guaranteed dofollow 'anchor link' from that twitter page? Heres the trick: Getting PR is simple. Just go to high PR dofollow blogs/forums, etc and just start leaving comments with your name and the PR will follow over time. The dofollow link magic. Did you know that the location that the tweet came from is dofollow? let me explain. You use a tool like tweetdeck, friendfeed, bit.ly, etc to write and submit a tweet i.e. is done from a 3rd party application using the API. Well that link that appears at the bottom thus: "38 minutes ago from friendfeed" The anchor text 'friendfeed' is a dofollow link Now would you not want that as an anchor text for your keyword in Twitter. Damn right you would? Well I know how to do it. hahaha (evil laugh) In fact I have the tool that will do it in seconds for any non-techie guy. Now this is not a sales page but I will make limited versions available of this tool. But i will have to do this in another section. PM any way if interested Good luck
yeah testing that now with one keyword - using same techniques. Lets see if Google allows that to happen. I'm not holding up much...
it will happen but you can not expect to get favoured for competitive keywords. If you are savvy about the process then you can do well. if the status updates are fresh, more tweets, etc then sure you will see benefits
