I have just started a backlinks campaign. I have some links from relevant forums, blogs, directories and from sites that have agreed to use my link. BUT. When I use Yahoo Explorer using the command Linkdomain:URL I see less than half of the links I know I have. Literally none from the individual websites are showing up. All I see are directory submittals, blogs, and forums. How do I know I have links from the individual websites? Because I've used the tool Back Link Analyzer and I see the links. I click on them and they are there, on the sites, with anchor text. Does Yahoo not list some links? Does Yahoo take more time to list site links than other kinds of links? As you can guess, this is a crucial question. It's relevant websites that are a prime focus of my campaign. I don't want to be doing the work and, for some reason, I don't get any increase in page position for my efforts. Is there something crucial I don't understand? What's up??????????
Patience grasshopper. How long is ther between the time you have acquired the backlinks and the time you are checking to see them in yahoo site explorer. You're going to want to give it a couple of weeks. Also, make sure you poing, and social bookmark each page where you add you link, to expedite matters. it still won't happen overnight, but it should be a little faster.
Poing and social bookmarking? Pardon my ignorance. I have heard the words, but know not what they mean.
I didn't want to burden you with explaining it but I couldn't fine poing so I wasn't sure where to go. I did get the Wiki for social bookmarking. Got it answered. Thanks
That should be 'ping'. My apologizes. use servies like pingler.com and pingomatic.com to let search engines know you have updated content on your website.
You have to wait for the search engines to re-crawl the page before the links are counted. Sometimes Google pick up the link faster than yahoo. Sometimes it's the other way round. Only that stupid Bing seems to overlook my blogs.
you can use webmaster tools to analyse your backlinks and get links for your website from different IPs
Actually in our experience, Yahoo *does* occasionally miss links. We've had some backlinks in place for like three or four months that still don't show up on Yahoo even though we've manually verified them and they're not /nofollowed or noindexed in the robots.txt file. ^F^
I can see the following explanations: 1) it takes time - you'll see your links soon 2) Yahoo updated the algorithm 3) Yahoo doesn't like the sites you have the backlinks from
I lost some links I had and I don't know why... It was there a month ago on webmaster tools but now I have around 300 links less than month before...
