I've been looking at my sales and I noticed that there's a pattern to WHEN do they happen. So I decided I'll map recent US traffic sales and see if there really is a pattern to them. Here is what came out: Now, obviously most sales happen from 7am-11pm so this info can be applied in various ways but the most practical one is to advertise in PPC programs just during 7am-11pm because you are PROBABLY losing money if you just blindly advertise thru the whole day. Good luck
This is true, I have also read articles in the past and many affiliate forums stating that the best time is around 12 as those who are in work are usually on their lunch break and can go onto the computer for a browse during lunch hour. Also I have tried and tested that my most successful day for any campaigns are on a thursday.
I have used a tracking system with google and CB, from a month trakcing of sales the report shows that 1 - 6 is worse.
Jose, I've ran a test on my campaign and found that the majority of my sales for both US and Canada come from 2pm EST to 11pm EST. This is confirmation and 3 months of data. Now, I've had sales outside of those times frames and found it to be profitable to run my campaign around the clock simply because my margins are there and it's still profitable. However, in terms of when do the majority of the sales come, 2pm - 11pm EST. This I found is good for testing when using Google Search to find hot keywords b/c it saves me money. When I find a good converting keyword through search, I then ramp it up in the content network. Tim
I've dialed in on the times, but haven't paid too much attention to days. I do find it to be slower on the weekends obviously. In my other niche "home business" monday's and tuesdays are hot. However with regards to affiliate marketing it's been pretty consistent in sales volume throughout the majority of the week.
You have to be careful when choosing times if you are promoting outside the US. I have had all of my US campaigns set for 5:30 am to 11pm for the past year. Campaigns for products that attract curiosity searchers have typically not converted very well for me during the 11am - 1pm time frame. My assumptions have always been that people on lunch hour from work will be browsing and may search for these type of products. However, products that fill a need (health related, etc.) seem to have better conversion rates during these hours. This is based on a couple of years of tracking through adwords. I have also found that you can drive yourself crazy by trying to over analyze.
I do consider 8pm-11pm as the most appropriate time for spending money on PPC. It is in this time most of the shoppers are free and spend time on online shopping activities.
It's really more about the keywords you use. You only pay for the clicks you get. So is there any solid reason of using specific times for your campaigns, maybe someone more experienced would be kind to share.
