At least we tried, it is true that sometime trying be green will actually lead to more waste, but it is better than doing nothing at all

Whether you visit the mall or not, the consumption of electricity will remain the same.

I know a lot of people who can sacrifice new clothes but can find it difficult to sacrifice their regular trip to the mall

How do you figure that. If the malls are closed there are no lights on, no tills, no air con etc

I try to. I eat as little meat as possible (I don't think I could stop, I'd end up with iron problems, and I'm not a fan of supplements), I take public transport and walk where ever I can, either that or car pool. I use energy efficient light bulbs where I can. I wash my clothes with cold water instead of hot water. Hmm.
I do alot more, but I can't quite think of it now.

Ah yes, I use canvas bags when I go to the supermarket :D

lets see..('we' as in me and family)
we eat little meat mainly becuase it's so expensive.
    we use our recycle bin
use green bags instead of plastic bags at shops.
If we buy small items we don't ask for a bag.
I'm planning on buying a prius one day..but with price of petrol i might end up not buying any car at all.
currently i don't have a drivers licence or own a car,i rely on public transport.
we turn of lights if we're not in room, except kitchen and lounge.
computers get switched of when not in use.
we have a vege garden in backyard (to reduce costs of food)

there is probably more i do,i cant remember. lol
Now i know some of things i do won't be helping the environment, but then it cant be helped.
Society is set up to consume.

And don't forget virtual water use..once you hear the numbers of how much water we consume just to make meat, clothing, products, it gets quite scary.
I think what annoys me most is governments say they want to reduce emissions and stop global warming and all that..yet it's all lies. In the next breath they all for expanding the population and furthering growth..and thats just the state government here.

Our world's population can't keep expanding without drastic effects on worlds water supplies..and desalination in long term isn't sustainable..

I am a strong advocate of supporting the environment, its why I dont litter and have been involved ina couple of anti pollution movements.

    However

Global Warming is a load of cobblers, iit uses irrelevant data and a graph that had to be put through a special forumla to show what the creator wanted - It was disproven around 30 years ago. over 800 years ago the current heating cycle was predicted by an astronomer by the earths wobble on its axis and position to the sun. We are actually coming out of a minor ice age.

I tend not to recycle so much, living in England over half of the stuff we put out for recycling gets put on a barge and shipped overseas for disposal because we dont have the facilities for it. The green campaigners say it gets us in the state of mind for recycling, my reply tends to be along the lines of 'a state of mind isnt going to save a world that is still getting polluted you *&$!£ing hippy'

I voted against the Bio Fuel inclusion and subsidy bids when they were introduced, now we have third world starvation rapidly increasing and a massive increase in the burning (Not logging) of the rainforest.

If the governments really wanted to help the world at this point in time they would take the billions they are investing on environmental fads and subsidise companies in china to build systems to filter waste water and polutants they expell into the air.

It disgusts me how so much time resource and manpower is wasted because peple can be so easily led.

Oh and I am not a vegiterian, I have seen enough to put into my mind that an animal killed by humans is going to die one hellova less terrifying death than one born into the real world. True they have been born with a tag above their head but to live at all is better than to have never been born.

I am still waiting for someone to form the 'common sense party' instead we have,

The Liberal Democrats - Idiots with good policies and ineptness
The Green Party - Idiots with bad policies and a lust for attention
The Labour Party - Idiots who are desperately trying to make Conservative policies and forgetting th labour classes it was created to protect
The Conservatives - Absolutely useless but considering the alternatives...
The Monster Raving Loony Party (Yes it's Real) - Once accreddited with the fact that it had some of the most sensible policies seen in parliment, its just a shame the leader wore funny clothes and giggled a lot.

In our country, hybrid cars are not yet available in the sense that only those who are super rich will be able to afford the price for it. So I think that would not be an option for me. I do my share by using biodegradable materials such as paper bags instead of plastic, turning of the airconditioner when not necessary. I also join tree planting activities

I am doing one thing deligently. I used environmentally safe household cleaning products.
I thoroughly love the brand I used. The base is vinegar and natural oils. A clean smell
is definitely a change from the chemical based products I used to use.

Unfortunately, people in my country think it's strange to bring one while you're doing your groceries. Plus people have this notion that if you're bringing something besides the standard plastic bag of that certain grocery, you might have some hidden agenda of some sort (like you're about to shoplift or something...) Unfortunate, I know! Hopefully things will change in the next few weeks. I hear there are small efforts now that want to legally push for the use of canvas bags instead of plastic ones.

unfortunatley here there are now issues surrounding the "green bags".
Here in australia shopping centres have issued green coloured (and now multicoloured) shopping bags,to reduce plastic bag consumption. Ironically, the bags themselves are made from a polymer that cant biodegrade.(polymer=plastic).
So now we're going to thicker tougher bags hanging around instead of thinner plastic bags..

I was actually surprised to see shoppers here willing to use the green bags. At least people here are wanting to change. too bad no one has come up with a solution.

The other issue surrounding the green bags is people who aren't very clean, are bringing in their green bags and shop assistants are having to handle very dirty, mouldy, stinky bags.

I've seen enough people walking around with very very disgusting looking green bags.

I live on a farm, so its easy to be green out here. I use solar power to keep the batteries on the trucks and tractors charged at all times, waste vegetable and leaf matter is composted, and I only use organic fertilizers on all crops.

Speaking of solar power, I've been looking for a solar powered battery charger. Want to charge my gadgets using that from now on.
