How do you choose your niche? Do you work on "building your value" and to "create a brand" for yourself?

    'OR'

Do you just pick and choose a hot market and jump start in it or do you find something that interests you?

I have discussed this in my blog posting, Finding Your Niche Market, how to identify your own niche that you can brand yourself with.

What is your strategy to identify a niche market?

With the hype around the social media market, are you working on branding yourself?

I think you have to brand yourself as someone who is adding value to that particular niche to really make the big bucks and to be successful. As more and more people are participating in ranking what makes to the top of the search engine lists or blog list, it is imperative that you have a brand and you are known around the world.

    So what is your brand?

    1. Get a market which is NOT exactly hot, but has a 'cult' group of loyal buyers. There's always a buyer from that end.

    2. I think branding is important as people really wanna know who you really are, online AND offline.

    3. I feel that it depends on who you want to be known as. Be it the over-hyped-gym-rat-quality-information-giver-online or an under-paid-but-over-worked-value-added-online-video-provider, it depends on individuals.

You make good points. I just feel like branding is everything for future success. Just like in your own local neighbourhood, people know who you are and what you do. Therefore they tend to trust you. We need the same look and feel for the online world. People need to know who you are and what you do. This way they know exactly who they are dealing with.

When you talk of brand, are you talking about the domain name itself, someone like me could never afford the propositions behind creating my own product, so i'm aiming to sell others for different brandnames.

Do you believe it's still possible to become successful selling other peoples names under your domain name.

Please explain more about what you mean with the branding.

    Kind Regards

    James

I think, if one creates sites for quick profit he or she won't think much about their reputation and branding their names, but if you aim at a really good project, that is going to exist for years or decades, then of course, branding is a very important thing.
