I've got a new machine with Vista last month and it's great. Yeah, some Windows XP software doesn't work, but that's like expecting Windows 95 software to work on Windows XP, and as for games, most of them work on vista once you download the latest patches for the games.
There are problems with hardware drivers. I got a new laptop for my sister with docking station and Vista does not behave well in that environment - it freezes.
i use xp but not change to vista because many bad report about it. i waiting for good report to come.
I hate to see people judge a product just because they saw some subjective statistics. Don't ever base your judges on that! Try the product first. You're just building a wave of myths.
i think ill be continuing with Xp..never tried Vista...but heard alot of bad things about it....though im wating for Windows vienna or windows 7.. lets see!!
According to my experience there are many issue with vista. Graphics is good but performance is better in windows xp. I still prefer XP
Agreed. My new computer with Vista runs games at about the exact same as my old computer with half the hardware power. The security features are kind of nice, but my copy must have been installed wrong or something when I first got it because I had write protection enabled at the root and it took me a few hours on the phone w/ customer support before I could even create & save a text file on my desktop. (to be fair, I think this was on the computer manufacturer's end. MS had no idea what was going on and it was the computer company that ended up fixing it for me) I also have some oldschool DOS games that I was still enjoying - until of course I realized that Vista can't even fake a DOS emulation on its own & doesn't play well with some of the free software out there that does. The complaints are pretty minor and overall the OS is pretty solid. I liked XP a lot too, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend spending the $x00 on an upgrade unless Vista already comes with your new computer purchase.
Using both vista and XP i'm starting to like Vista but it is a little more unreliable. Ive been blue screened twice in the last couple of weeks. I don't think its happened once in the last year of using xp...
for certain options, i am very happy, but for other options,as my comp has 512 mb RAM only,it is seen to be very slow for loading even small programs when compared to windows xp.
I use Vista with 3Gb memory. Looks nice as long as I switch ClearType off. Big downside for me is that it is very slow at copying files. My main use of Vista is during platform test for new software releases. I have to copy 30Mb files several times a day and it is way slower than XP.
